When you think back to that squad in L1 it was ridiculous, Pinnock, Lindsay, Davies, Mowatt, Woodrow and Moore.
You are saying that with five years of hindsight. If all had dropped to non league your opinion would be different. Daniel came in after relegation and introduced a complete reset in terms of tactics and mindset. Mowatt had just been on loan at Oxford. Moore had barely scored for us. Pinnock had hardly played. Woodrow was an unknown quantity. You’re looking back, five years on and judging things based on everything that’s happened in between. Stendel did an amazing job with a group of players he didn’t know from Adam, in a foreign country, unable to speak the language when he first arrived. He also bought into the town and united the fanbase. Let’s not s*** on past glories.
Potts was universally hammered online, even that season until he was snapped up by PNE. Cavaré was the biggest liability I’ve ever seen at Oakwell, defensively. But Daniel was only ever interested in attacking and Dimi was indeed special going forward. McGeehan wouldn’t lace the boots of any of the current midfielders but did a job at that level. People forget Thiam. Stendel got the absolute best out of that lad. He gave Browny his start, opportunities to Jack Walton, Ben Williams, Mike Bähre. Daniel was ******* brilliant for this club.
With the apparent and alleged poor quality we have in the squad right now, I'm not sure who could come in and 'do a job' (depending on what that means). Should we cut our losses maybe, and look for a fresh start, and completely get rid of Devaney ?.
How am I ****ting on past glories? am using hindsight to draw attention to how good the squad was for L1, had we made the right managerial appointment rather than morais there's no way that team containing some of those names gets relegated the season before, I think you are taking things in the wrong context if you think I'm not being complimentary.
