Has said he will not be joining us. He was offered it but due to Visa issues he has confirmed he wont be coming https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...nagerless-league-one-club-barnsley-fc-4612910
My reading of that is that he's asserting that we said "you'll get a permit no problem, trust us" but he doesn't want to wait for the process with no guarantee that it will succeed.
Still find it alarming that he was our 'powers that be's .. numero uno. choice. But it does sadly emphasize the chasm between board and fanbase
We all knew deep down the Thalhammer stuff was true. It’s just beggars belief that monumental **** ups keep happening. We are an amateur run club, & what’s worse is we all know there’ll be something else happening soon, just when you think it can’t get any worse. It seems like the new director of football guy is just Khaled in disguise, nothing is going to change.
Absolute mess. I tend to think the board get way too much stick but this is a Conway-level mess up. Almost summer 22 level.
When we say board, they employed a CEO and a DoF to avoid such things. I imagine they are fuming more than us right now. It does seem odd that an exceptions panel would refuse such a visa. There is a need to control migration but surely an identified good fit football coach isn't the face of the UK's migration problem. I would have hoped post Brexit rules were a little bit flexible but the power to refuse must feel good I guess. "Hey dear, guess who I denied today!"
I like how everyone jumps on the club’s back about it. 1) the guy might have been a short term fix - his actual initial results at clubs are very good. Long term he seems to struggle. He seems to have that initial bounce factor - which is what we need. 2) the club will have known about the work permit, and were probably hoping an appeal might work, which didn’t. Either way, we move on. The club have acted bravely with getting rid of Collins, and clearly already starting talks with others prior.
I mean we get on about the Fritzls being a poorly run club from Chansiri, but they got Sausage Rohl in pretty sharpish after Munoz leaving. And I think he'd spent as much time in England as DT did - none. We don't do ourselves any favours. Edit* Rohl did do time coaching at Southampton, but still, we're *supposed* to be a 2nd tier standard setup. It's embarrassing
In fact, I would be interested to hear the exceptions panel explain why they view nine years growing the woman's game is not something the UK wants. Seems going through the motions in the established men's leagues is more important. The talk is progressive. The actions tell a different story.
