In a sickeningly backwards way we might be lucky that third goal went in, because I'd just convinced myself at 2-1 we can easily win at their ground and then go off to Wembley. Time to rebuild. Get a competent manager in who's passionate for the job and take a serious look at the squad, we're losing a lot of players who don't want to be here but that can also be a blessing in disguise. Conor grant played very well tonight as a side note, I hope we sign him in the summer and that's the Kane replacement sorted.
Watch it again from 1m-55 steps back and shoves him into the goal. https://www.skysports.com/football/video/30998/13128538/barnsley-1-3-bolton-league-one-play-offs

If you think this team is bad, the last time we played the likes of Mansfield and Wrexham was a joke. Brian O'Callaghan at centre half makes the current crop look like Baresi, Maldini and Cannavaro.
You can't win games when some of the defence can't do the basics. I'm looking forward to a fresh start with some of these players out of contract this summer. Williams has been dreadful all season with error after error. Cadden has never been a great defender but he made up for it with his forward play and crosses in the box - he seemingly can't even do that anymore. Kane is the slowest footballer to ever wear a Barnsley shirt and that's saying something when Jon Russell is in the squad. For all his goals in the first half of the season the rest of Cole's play is dreadful - constantly losing the ball. I think we've missed having an older head - most of these players have looked psychologically shot ever since conceding the Bolton equaliser in the 2-2 game. They've looked fragile and lacking in belief and intensity ever since.
Mate, Roberts isn't a small bloke or inexperienced. He has to do better there. It's not his first rodeo.
I don’t think Bolton have done anything more than us to win that match tonight, and that’s the issue / we beat ourselves, that defence is absolutely woeful - every last one of them, not only can they not do the basics, they actively give goals away. I just can’t help feeling I don’t want to see any of them in the team next season. I think it’s also the reason fans are on the teams backs, that and the perceived attitude of players like Kane, they’re not likable, you don’t root for them and as soon as they make a mistake it’s the excuse for people to have a go. I genuinely wouldn’t miss any of them - I’d be happy with a complete new squad. it’s just typical we are still in the tie in the 94th minute and we still manage to chuck it away. that defence…….**** me.
Wednesday were dead and buried after the first leg last year. So there's that. If Barnsley can just stop shipping three goals there's a slim chance. If I was coach I think I'd tell them not to do that.
And post match will be rinse and repeat. No home truths. No accountability. Will be exactly the same scripted comments we’ve had week in week out. This has been an absolute horror show of a run in. On and off the pitch, just horrendous. Huge changes needed.
We got exactly what I thought we'd get tonight following the capitulation we've embarked on for the last couple of months weak owners weak coaches weak squad.
Why do people want to reduce everything down to scapegoats? I'm no great lover of this particular Reds side, but every player out there bust his guts for the team. When they got some tempo going they looked dangerous. True Kane couldn't find space and Luca struggled to find options too for the most part. The team really doesn't gel. Time for a strong coach with a clear idea and a bit of a rebuild.
Not a foul. Either on screen or at the game itself (which I presume you did not have the benefit of). Simply inept defending all round.
