This has got to be a joke? JAQ has taken more abuse than anyone else has, by a country mile.

I also find it strange Jon Stead has remained.

Nowt against the lad, but says more about Collins than anything. Usually they are sacked as a pairs. Him staying is saying Collins was the issue.

And claimed you spoke for us all. YOU DID NOT!

Like said heard plenty of rumours Collins falling out with players but I think it must be a bad dressing room this season player on each others back each game, tonight topped it off with kane coming off smiling at 2 down. A big clear out needed for me.

I think a fan engagement forum thing is needed asap.

It looks like the board reacted to the people moaning on twitter. Which is ridiculous. They need to reassure us that they’re not that stupid.

As for Collins staying or going - I don’t think we’d have won the playoffs if he’d stayed, but sacking him and ending up with no manager is negligence. Complete mess.

Agree that @Gegenpresser made a good post, but I also agree with you that our weak board made a decision based on those entitled fans who consistently screamed for Collins to be sacked. And it remains true that we didn't lose to Bolton under Collins however much you all want to gloss over that.

How much involvement does Stead have on matchdays though. He always seems to be sat in the dug-out like a paid Spectator when most Managers are in near constant discussion with their No.2. I can understand it if Disco was above him in the pecking order when Collins was here even though he and Disco were "Joint Assistant Head Coach" but now his mate has gone shouldn't he be more visible on the touchline?

Do you think our fans are any more entitled than those of other clubs though? There will always be a vocal minority prematurely calling for the manager to be sacked. The internet gives them the perfect conduit to amplify their voice.

I’m not convinced we are any different from any other club in that regard. See Sheff weds last season, Derby this (!)

Heard he'd fallen out with many key players kane and connell been 2. Possibly a bad dressing room I think and I don't think his football helped which was hardly entertaining plus the poor form.like said we miss out on the play offs under him club get hammered they can't win.

I’ve rarely praised the Owners who, over a period of years, have exhibited levels of incompetence, on and off the pitch, that are truly amazing. However, removing Collins prior to the start of next Season, was one of their better decisions, and saves time in things drifting on into another season before he is replaced.
Sadly, I have little faith in their ability to appoint a Coach who can inspire the Club and it’s support. That decision seems to rest on whether the coin comes down heads or tails.

I genuinely don't know. I don't engage with other fans like I do with ours. I do know it's stopped me from going to games, and I think I could put up a legitimate argument that many clubs who finished below us were not as vicious towards their manager as we were. But I admit I could be wrong with that.

well that’s a shame mate but I respect that.

I guess it’s about expectations, I do know Derby fans were horrific towards Paul Warne.

Collins was always fighting a losing battle imho. Previously manager adored by most , expectations sky high, best players sold, hindered further by shocking recruitment.

I only started to realise what a good job he was doing in adversity around a few months ago, ironically when form took a dip.

totally mental to sack him when (and how) the Board did. Could be pretty damaging long term I predict.

I am no fan of the board and I have little faith in their decision making but I seriously doubt they made the decision to push the button on Collins based on the rantings of the same idiots that send JAQ and Neerav personal abuse on Twitter and a very vocal minority at games.

There has to be, and I am to understand is, more to it.

I felt Collins needed to go - the timing was absolutely ******* bizarre but I still took it.

The lack of forward planning, the lack of awareness of the inability to obtain their allegedly chosen replacement a visa, is a further embarrassment to add to the fa cup debacle.

They’re shi.te, if well intentioned (in comparison to the intentions of the previous incarnation of the board), but I don’t believe they sacked Collins for the reasons some allege on here.

I can believe that disappointing season ticket sales will have contributed - but they won’t improve now whoever they appoint you wouldnt think.

The question has been asked about whether sacking Collins was right given tonight’s poor result and performance.

The question not considered is whether, if Collins had remained, we’d have even got in the playoffs in the first place. There’s no guarantee that if he’d still been here that the other games would have gone the same way - if we’d gone a couple down early against Northampton for example, it might have encouraged the sides in the other games.

All conjecture. Waste of time debating. We could have won tonight under Collins. We could have lost 4-0. We might not have got in the playoffs at all. We might have not been playing until tomorrow against Peterborough. We’ll never know.

I did want Collins out - the football was turgid, getting worse, results had fallen off a cliff and in my view he’d taken a few too many games already. But there was zero point doing it when they did with no contingency plan; I’ll concede that much. Disco is a bit of a club legend but when you listen to his interviews, well... Being kind - he doesn’t sound like a manager.

Spot on. This thread is pointless speculation about whether or not things would be better at this moment if Collins had stayed. No-one will ever know because he's gone. The team may have beaten Bolton, might have lost by more, might have drawn. Who knows? Similarly its ok to point to other games this season against Bolton this year and say the team got points. But would they have done better without Collins in at those times? Worse? Who knows. I wanted Collins out because the football was unbelievably bad but did think he would be kept till the end of the season.
The board have acted by sacking Collins they've failed to get anyone in and Barnsley have lost under a caretaker. That's all we know for sure. There may be other things we can speculate on of course.....
