They already got it wrong, particularly given what we've seen from their target in publicising the situation. Thankfully, due to their own incompetence, they have a second bite of the cherry, which might prove to be a blessing in disguise.

I agree that it's a hugely significant point in the club's destiny now. No margin for error at all and a huge weight of expectation surrounding the appointment.

You picked and chosen your games which is a sign of the times. Once upon a time there was pheck all else to do on a Saturday; it's 2024 now; leisure and entertainment options are all over the place. I've renewed but fully support those who haven't.
If the board are going to make random decisions (eg signings) in the vague hope they come good, then supporters have a right to choose random games in the hope they pick a good one.

i remember the days when you and i would start every conversation about BFC and everything around it but mostly the football. Now i cant remember the last time we spoke about any of our football matches. At ‘best’ we have touched briefly on the controversy and issues.

I’ve never even thought about that until you’ve just mentioned it but you’re right, I can’t remember last time we talked about a game,

I agree. It feels a bit like the post-Miners Strike situation to me. People tend to forget that our average attendances were way below the ones achieved in recent years. If memory serves, the attendances in the 96/97 season were still only around the 5.5K mark until it became clear that we had a decent chance of promotion to the top division.

I haven’t posted for a while and haven’t been near Oakwell in years. I began watching Barnsley in our ex Leeds days (Clarke, Hunter, Bobby Collins). I have realised over the years how special that time was. It was a true honour to share the joy of watching a team that made me proud. That pushed on into seeing the ultimate joy and pride that promotion to the Premiership brought.
I then lost my way with Barnsley as work commitments took priority. I really returned to the fold when Davey became manager and all of a sudden we had talented loanees and permanent players that excited me. I lost the mojo before Patrick died (RIP) and have not been back under the regimes since.
All I see now from the distance of my living room is a bunch of 11 strangers forming a team that have no real connection to the town or fans. There is a new manager every 12 months which is not going to do the club any favours in trying to attract the next one. We had managers that I felt could have done a job given some backing (Heckingbottom and Robins spring to mind).
I have no faith that the current people in charge can make a difference as their decisions so far do seem bizarre. I admire anyone that can continue to renew season on season and wish them well for the future.

God what a really sad state of affairs people who clearly love the club have had that love knocked out of them. The guilt I felt last Saturday when they scored and first thing I felt was I hope that's a fatal blow awful. Young Alfie and me on our walk down to the ground do score and scores thing I said last night I thought we would lose 3-0 it shouldn't be like this, glad I've got him to watch to get my Saturday football fix next season.

I’m pretty despondent about the club right now. I really thought we were on the edge of something happening with Duff.

that team last season was everything I wanted in a team - the same as Val.

however the board failed to cease the initiative and have allowed the collapse that I think we are now on the verge of.

I’m unsure if I’m going to get a season ticket next season as I can’t support the complete ineptitude of the board - this season has been a catalogue of embarrassing and self destructive decisions

the only thing keeping me going is spending time with my boys and they have the bug but I am tempted to spend the money doing other stuff with them such as watching a few away games, premier league games, other sports etc

I really believe that a successful team doesn't generally come without have a strong supportive fan base.
We no longer have this so I can't see the team improving over the next few years unless we drop lucky with a great new coach who is given time and a crop of decent u21s coming good.

Supporters are the only constants at BFC. Managers, coaches, players, owners, directors et al are ephemeral. I will be watching my beloved Reds for the next 12-15 years, I hope. Not because I have lifelong complimentary season tickets, but because they are my hometown club and you do not abandon your loved ones when they’re at their lowest.

It’s more than that it’s just a general emptiness around supporting our club. Tuesday night it’s a bit cold I stay at home. I used to come up from London for home games now I cba to go 3 miles.
