The more that I hear about him, the more I think that he’ll be a good fit for us. Not my own intel but I was listening to a podcast who were discussing MK Dons chances in the playoffs and they went into depth about the job he has done. So a few takeaways for you: *success - did a superb job at Gateshead and learnt his trade in the lower leagues. He didn’t just walk into the job at MK, he earned it and since walking through the door, he’s been a revelation. 4th best form in the league but very much kept up with the big 3 in the league. Before MK Dons took a punt on him, there were quite a few who were taking a look at him - some from L1. *possession based football - sticks with the plan but with more purpose to play. Likes to play with width and pace which is certainly missing at the moment. *4321 - his teams excite by having technically gifted players who can move with the ball. Has been known to shift formation when necessary to a 3511 - some might call it a tactical plan. *Player development - many players have been seen to get better under him and quite a few of the MK Dons team have been touted to play L1 football regardless of the playoff outcome. He’s brought in Bates from Leeds and completely rejuvenated his career. Knowing the rebuild job we are going to have - this trait is going to be very useful. *Goals - “Williamson’s strikers score goals” was the quote which was used. Max Dean is his current striker - 18 goals for a 20 year old in his first season following his free transfer from Leeds. Alex Gilbey also has 13 goals from centre midfield. Anyway, just thought I’d add my bit as it’s gone a bit quiet on the manager speculation front. From what’s available or possible, we could do a lot worse. COYR.
I'm assuming we're waiting for the playoffs to finish before making our move. I also like the sound of Williamson. Surely we'll be able to tempt him to join us even if he takes MK Dons up?
Again not sure why he'd moved from MK to Oakwell if he takes them up. Hardly the biggest forward career movement. Especially for all the risks involved at Barnsley given the average length of tenure of a manager here. The Collins fiasco will have been noted elsewhere.
Don’t think playing out from the back would go down too well with our fan base and with the current defence would scare me to death
An added bonus for us is he’s got he best out of Kyran Lofthouse both at Gateshead and MK Dons. Been an ever present under Williamson at both clubs and by all accounts has got rave reviews at the dons.
We'll have to wait to see how MK get on in the playoffs.....their first leg at Crawley this afternoon has been postponed. Waterlogged pitch.
Reason why he might come to us is mk have a massive stadium but a poor fan base and my cousin who lives there says that their owners have put hardly any money into the club instead focussing on the stadium to host events and also building the retails area up around it!
Why is it tinpot? That area had overnight rain of biblical proportions. No play at Lords today, a ground with probably the best drainage in world cricket.
Yes like it must be just one way or the other.. this possession based passy passy sideways in pretty triangles 5'hite as only been around 5 years from Pep and Citah.. or hoofball.. just because fans don't want one thing doesn't mean they want the direct opposite any more..
