That’s an excellent question. The only one in the last 10/15 years that I can think of is Paddy McCourt, a mercurial figure who was hyped from the outset and provided magical moments from the off.

    Unreal what's posted on here.
Young Ackers given 10 yrs of his life to BFC .
How can you comment on these young guys without any sentiment to how they are going thru the release process.

Has anyone mentioned Ackroyd in this thread?

And why does it matter how long they’ve been here? If they did well here and a big team came sniffing would it be “oh I’ve been here 10 years, I owe it to the club to stay”? Would it heck.

All I am saying is , it's easy to post on here what we think.
Some of these youngsters have given their all to BFC .
To be released , can not be easy for them .They don't deserve some of the stick which is posted on social media, that's all.

Last big signing we made that filled me with confidence was Adam Hammills second coming. I remember being excited by Jennings arrival as well, although we all know how that panned out.

1998. And yes, that was genuinely the last time we signed someone that genuinely gave me the Wow Factor.

Sorry, I misunderstood the post I thought you'd replied to.10/15yrs.
As a wow factor for me. Nothing since that era. But plenty around it. Redders.
Bruce. (Who I admired when he ran rings round us for palace even though we beat em.) Jan aga. Higgy as you say. As a bit of a coup the most recent would be Pines,

Yes it's a shame, but it happens at every club there's no room for sentiment thats football it's a business and we can't carry passengers, it's also proved to be pivotol to many players, finding another club, playing regular and going on to have fantastic careers.
Agree about abuse though, but social media is full of absolute tubes

I wonder what will happen with Cundy and Benson. Will they ever feature for Barnsley again as both have been out for a season (more or less). Can't think of anyone who after such prolonged absences have come back to feature regularly in the team and be clear of further injury.
