We have gone from having Thomas Andersen and Kitching as a back 3 to having 7 (seven) CB's with arguably none of them even top of League 1 quality. And they've both collectively and individually all got worse as the season has progressed. Poor recruitment reinforced by poor coaching
He's shocking but we're clueless when we play it out from the back we **** up we go long we give away possesion
Poor coaching is the biggest issue. Teams with lower budgets and arguably worse defenders than us in the this league have conceded far fewer than us. We can complain about the quality of the players but they are not being coached and helped in anyway. The lack of a Sollbauer type leader too is so obvious. They need a voice back there to organize em.
Mads' problem was making silly errors, but he was always strong, good in the air and fairly quick. De Gevigney doesn't possess the same qualities that Mads had, even when he was making costly errors, so, in my opinion, does not have the same scope for improvement.
I like him, I think he's an excellent footballer who no doubt needs a strong bloke like Pines alongside to take the heavy load at the back.
Shows some silky touches but he’s not a good enough defender for me. Too slow, doesn’t win the ball in the box (he does win his fair share outside the box) and looks like he always has a howler in him. It has been his first season in English football though so hopefully in a few years we are talking about how much teams will be bidding for him after his upturn in performance levels. Not sure we will be but who knows.
I definitely think he'll improve. He's got used to English football now hopefully and should be a lot stronger next season!
Looks like some people are lining him up to be next seasons scapegoat already !! , Just my opinion like
One was signed from the Danish top flight. One was signed after one season in the French 2nd tier for the side finishing 2nd bottom.
