How did you rate Mr Langford. Blatant penalty aside, I thought he did quite well. Didn't fall for Aaron Collins constantly dropping to the floor.
Rubbish. The thing that annoys me the most about refs is added time, not just because it’s Barnsley but any game. He’s put up 5 minutes, the ball must’ve been in play less than a minute in that 5 but soon as the 5 is up he blows. Mental.
I thought he was excellent. No nonsense and didn't fall for the diving in the box. Can't be negative about him or the linos tonight surely?
7 for me. Don't think it was a penalty, and only used his whistle when he had to. Let a lot go in a very physical game. Immensely better than the clown from the first leg.
5/10. Might have given a penalty but it would have been generous, and he didn’t give them everything when they threw themselves to the ground. Did give several fouls against Cosgrove on Santos which is a joke in itself when in reality Santos would stay on his feet if he got ran over by a jcb. Not too bad, would give 7 but 2 points deducted for his annoying, constant arrogance. I’ve seen it from him before - refuses to look a player in the eye and always flounces round with a superioty complex.
Not sure about the pen, but I can see why the ref wasn’t interested. Could’ve made their keeper get ball back in play quicker at times. TBF, not much to criticise tonight so a 7 from me
Is docking points for flouncing in the rules? If so, can I also dock him a point for his silly 1950's hairstyle?
He was ok. Fell for a fair bit of their cynical play acting etc but less than I’ve seen other refs. There’s no difference between the penalties given in the first leg to Bolton and the second to us . odd decision to give a foul against Okeefe in the box late on as was a 50/50 the ref in the first leg killed us with what I consider to be one of the most unforgivably bad decision I’ve ever seen to enable them to go 3-1 up it’s a tactic they adopt at every corner and it’s a foul. Well done tonight to the ref for spotting it at least once
6 from me. Not much difference between Friday's penalty and tonight's non penalty, and should have stopped the keepers constant time wasting.
Cosgrove could have had a pen, but so could they. Judgement calls. On the whole, I thought it was handled well, even if I disagree with some decisions. Two teams went hell for leather and the ref kept control, for me, that's a good referee. Best incident in the game (other than our goals): Earl flies into a challenge, mistimes it and clatters their guy quite hard. Earl instantly apologises, their player accepts the apology, gets up and we play on. Restored quite a bit of faith in football for me that. Not sure who the Bolton player was, but massive respect mate.
40 seconds had gone by before the goal kick was taken! I'll never understand it - what's the point? Might as well drop the boards and just let the ref do what he wants, if we're going to ignore all the time the ball is out of play anyway.
Reffed it well. Didn't fall for any nonsense in either box, wasn't card happy and dealt quickly with any issues. I gave him an 8.
Some potentially dodgy penalty decisions not given. Also could’ve booked Collins for diving a couple of times. Injury time was a bit of a joke too. In fairness he made some decent decisions too.
Thought he was quite decent. Thought he got the Cosgrove Pen wrong and didn’t agree with everything but I suspect Bolton fans will say similar not blaming him for the fact we can’t defend worth a 7 from me
This. Made point of pointing at his watch in the 2nd minute and then did nothing about it. Should have booked their winger for hauling back Cadden in first 5 but didn't because its first 5. Its a pen on cosgrove. It just is. 5 mins at end nonsense.
Something needs to be done about time wasting. Baxter was taking the p*** and got away with it (I am not sure this fits together but you get the gist). isn’t it time that the game was played over 30minutes each half with the timekeeeping done by the 4th official who stops the clock when the game is stopped. In addition the “4 second rule” for keepers needs to be enforced.
On three separate occasions the ball boys deliberately delated the restart and/or refused to give the ball to our players. They'd clearly been instructed to waste time.
