One last chance to get things right otherwise I'll be calling for you to leave our club. That's both the new head coach appointment and incoming transfer dealings. We've had so many **** ups and I'm still pissed off about the timing of the Collins dismissal and **** show that ensued with the alleged appointment of Thalhammer. I've had enough of the excuses/bull ****. JAQ/Neerav now is the time to get a grip because League one is going to be a lot tougher next season. Huddersfield, Birmingham, Rotherham, Blackpool, Wigan, Reading, Wrexham and Stockport will all be targeting the top 6. I'm not expecting the purse strings to be loosened given our perilous financial state however I would expect a more defined structure around the players we are looking to bring in. over to you...
The owners need to pick a manager who knows how to build a competitive League One team, and give a lift and some pride back to our fans. It’s not expensive to build a decent team at this level - there’s plenty of players available on a free. What I’d also like to see is an end to the amateurish f*** ups, and to feel we’ve a professional club that can do the basics right - kit released early and available to buy, no more ineligible players, and sort out the car parking and catering.
I get it’s going to be tougher, but last chance or leave? Who’s going to take over? we had a whole thread dedicated to this the other day, couldn’t you just have added to that? It’s not like anything’s changed since that one.
So many great players available from fellow L1 clubs on frees this summer. Lots 25 and under that would improve us for sure. Just need to get the head coach in ASAP and start getting signings in as early as we can so we are not playing catch up as usual.
Calm yourself down. I'm sure admin will merge the threads if it's easier. I don't spend all my spare hours reading every single thread.
Derby, Wednesday and maybe Bolton(should they go up) have all built league 1 promotion winning teams working within financial constraints. No reason why our board cannot do this also.
I agree but I couldn't give a monkey's about other clubs. We have nucleus now of a good squad with experience picked up through disappointment. You can't buy that. Wise investment will be enough for top six and another push next season. Where us fans can do our bit. Don't let expectancy drop because that's what penny pinches want.
When you say one last chance will that be until the end of next season or will you be doing what so many did this season and decide it's a bust before a ball is kicked if we don't sign exactly who you want?
Im calm thanks. As your times precious. Even though it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb, I’ve found it for you. https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/the-board-of-directors-time-to-go.330267/
I'd say generally I've been very supportive of the whole club throughout this past season. More than happy for you to go back and check my posts on here. I was slightly critical regarding the incoming defensive players, however, we sold Liam Kitching so late on in last summer's transfer window that it left zero time to find suitable replacements. My main target for Neil Collins for this season was to get the club into the play offs, unfortunately the timing of his sacking was in my opinion a disgrace. He should have been able to see out the season even after the extremely disappointing performance and result at Blackpool. As I posted in other threads, the morons got what they wanted when Collins was sacked. Look at the **** show that ensued regarding the alleged appointment of Thalhammer. Just more mistakes off the field! We are where we are and the players have put in a decent shift in the second half tonight but we've had massive defensive problems across the season. I don't know what the answer is, I appreciate we won't be spending much money over the summer but the recruitment strategy needs overhauling I'll wait until I see who is appointed head coach and what our transfer dealings are before making predictions on what we should be achieving next season. I won't be calling for anyone to be sacked before Christmas at least!
They need to try and build a team to win the league, I'm not sure we'd survive another unwanted, unsuccessful play off campaign. The problem is I just don't trust the board to get it right.
Why for a start, can't we go back to hiring 'managers' again, instead of just 'coaches'. Who are allowed a say in the incoming and outgoing player transfers, and who don't have to put up with constant interference from the owners. And who might be allowed to send out 'scouts' to watch talented players, like in the good old pre-spreadsheet days.
Well no but the reason for the new policy is to avoid things like that happening and to avoid having to rebuild every couple of years when the manager leaves.
What, a couple of years ehh lol. We're lucky if any 'manager/coach' does stay for a couple of years!. And why is that, this lot have made us the absolute stepping stone of a club, where nothing and nobody ever stays for too long.
