The fact that we had defenders who couldn't defend caught up with us towards the end of the season, when the fact that we constantly had to score 2 or 3 goals to win matches started to wear down the rest of the team. Added to this the coaches at the club had no answer to the defensive problems and the pressure led to more and more individual mistakes climaxing in the last 2 games when we gifted Bolton 5 goals over 2 matches

Agree only we were needing to score 3 or 4 goals not 2 or 3 which is what ultimately cost us

And the fact that the keeper Roberts (who isn't ours), who was ace early on in the season, and he saved us loads of points.
He's been awful in the final third of the season, but it isn't easy when a keeper has such a poor defence in front of him.

McCart Cundy Williams Cadden won't be here nex6 seaon nor will Roberts or Killip so a proper defensive overall is needed.

Not sure what will become of our loaned out defenders of Mccarthy Lopata Shepherd Lofthouse.

Can't see Mccarthy's future being with us.

Will Shepherd and Lopata be better and more experienced?

    Lofthouse may get an opportunity.

Mael DG has been really poor, and dare I say it, really over rated as well by some.
And I just don't understand why Kasper (Lopata) was made a scapegoat, and loaned out.

I think MDG, Earl, Lopata, Shepherd and Pines definitely have the makings of a back three between them. They're not quite there yet, but it's very easy to forget just how woeful Andersen looked in his first season.

I quite liked Lopata. He was a bit slow but strong on the ball and off it. MDG is the weaker of those two imho

The defender’s weren’t to blame for their 1st tonight, Cosgrove and at least 1 other was the nearest player to the scorer and never got anywhere near him. Bad defending isn’t always down to the defenders.

Which is 1 less than us and they're the ones going to Wembley as a result.

Yep agreed. As well as he played tonight he was very much at fault for Collins’ goal
