What a strange night to end a strange season. Away end totally muted for the entirety of the game, even at the points where we genuinely got back into it. I got told off for standing up when we had a corner to level the tie on 89 minutes. A good few people left at half time. Our fans gave up this season way before the players did.
"Our fans gave up this season way before the players did." I think our fans should think about it a bit more, instead of slagging the coach/manager off. Like with Collins, and even with Duff as well, at the end of last season before the Play offs. Especially while we're still doing well, and in the top six. But yeah ok, I admit Im basing that idea on results, rather than performances.
I got back to Wetherby at 12:55 a.m. I presume you must have left early as you say others did - otherwise how would you know ? Clearly you were unlucky in being asked to sit down: there were loads of selfish tw*ts near me stood up forcing others behind them to do the sames and ignoring the steward who asked them to sit down. I thought the support was excellent and particularly from the sevond goal onwards. I was in seatt CC12 - perhaps hour seat was in a deader area ?
1) We were right at the other extreme end funnily enough, row B about 140 (someone was in our seat so i don't know the exact number). I honestly thought apart from a few moments after our second goal it was quite dead. I mean it doesnt help that we were drowned out by the divvy with the drum and the pathetic clapper things. 2) I don't live in Barnsley; my journey to Bolton is only about 45 minutes, plus the roughly hour to get out of their ridiculous car park. I don't leave games before the end - it's the behaviour of a fanny. 3) I went for a big poo at half time and as i came out a good few people were streaming down the stairs, presumably out of the ground. 4) This is how you reply to the correct quote ;-)
I'm really jealous of 3, as I once turned up at Burnden Park absolutely bursting for a poo. The single pooing toilet was a concrete block plonked on the terrace, and the door had fallen off. Was seriously worried I'd soil myself when Redfearn put us in front with ten minutes remaining.
Harsh saying the fans gave up on the season before the players did, we’ve still been selling out away ends. Selling out the home game against Northampton, a decent crowd at home in the first leg, some of the players seem to have given up as early as the Shrewsbury away game. Granted the fans have probably turned out in hope over expectation but can you blame them? The lads gave it a good go for 45 minutes and what an effort it was, just showed us what we can achieve, if only they’d put that effort in for last 3 months or so. But it’s the least we deserve as football fans, 100% effort from the lads. Hopefully they clear out the lads who don’t want to be here anymore, but I worry that nobody will tough these players and we’re stuck with them for another year.
From where I was it was different @Tyketical Masterstroke. My son and I were towards the opposite side and with the exception of the last few minutes of the first half and first part of the second, I thought the support was excellent. It was noisy and loud. The only thing I disagreed with was a few numpties abusing Kane when he was subbed. Even the Devante Cole song was sung.
I think that’s a simplistic way of looking at it. I’d be much more inclined to think Bolton got a bit nervous & we took advantage of it. The last thing we need to be doing is thinking we just need to put more effort in.
Them who call themselves match day drinkers left at half time & called out other fans for not leaving. Bizarre behaviour. Agree on the fans bit. After a brilliant performance at Portsmouth I couldn’t believe fans around me at Blackpool were singing ‘Neil Collins your football is ****’ whilst the game was still 0-0.
You didn’t imagine it, Helen - where we were, they fans we singing constantly - it was incredibly noisy
I'm glad all our sensible fans remained standing to give the players a good appreciation at the end too. We were so unlucky. Defending was poor albeit but we were done by a fluke goal and an offside goal in the first leg
