He was gonna sign for Bristol rovers last season' surely his wages can't be that high.

Thought their Chairman confirmed that we had a bid turned down for him in the Summer

People saying they want us to bring the high press back and then suggesting we sign JCH….

He’s an absolute battering ram and, I think, he will score goals at this level still but he’s not very mobile and I’m not sure he could even do the press for 20 minutes.

Regarding other players in the out of contract list, there’s some good ones in there. Let’s hope that now our season is over, we are acting quickly with recruitment and can get some quality in early doors, replacing the numbers that will be exiting.

Key word there is 'linked'. Let's see where he ends up. I'd imagine Charlton are likely to pay more than us, I'd argue Bristol Rovers might too, they've just had Chris Martin for a season, and I bet he's not on minimum wage.

Conditioned is probably the wrong word. I'm happy to accept that we cut our cloth accordingly. We have to if we ever want to progress. You make out that signing 3 players for the price of 1 is a bad thing. If we need 3 players, it'd be suicidal to blow the entire budget on JCH, when for the same money we could sign a capable CF, LWB and a GK. The issue of course has been the quality of some of those recruits this season.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, they had Chris Martin this season, I reckon they're paying out more than people give them credit for.

Seen Raggett a few times this season, quite slow tbh but puts his body on the line and is good in the air and chips in with the odd goal, Can see him going back home to the Gills

Not sure how likely it would be but Christian Walton from Ipswich is out of contract this summer, if they don't take the option they have to extend by a further season. He is a top top keeper at L1 level and still only 28.

Speaking of another Ipswich player and I’m sure he’s been mentioned elsewhere but I’d like us to go for Idris El Mizouni. I think Ipswich may have the option of another year on his deal so maybe not out of contract but you’d think given how much money they’ll be getting next season, they won’t need our couple of hundred thousand!

Operative word there being "capable". Shaw, Dallas and Watters (fees + wages) would easily cover an accomplished L1 striker imo. And it's not as though we've needed the bodies, all three of them have been missing from the squad for ages.

That's a lot for a 3rd tier club to be paying a 34 year old.

Call me pedantic, but Shaw was signed last season. Whatever the approach was last summer though, it didn't work, and it certainly needs addressing this season. I don't think throwing £5k+ a week at an ageing striker is the best alternative though.

Neither do I for what it's worth. I wouldn't sign JCH. He doesn't fit into the style we should, and hopefully will be playing. But there are other alternatives that could do a really good job. That Satiriou for a starter. He made us look like fools at Oakwell, then again, they all did that day :D

What people aren't factoring in is the "Sheffield Wednesday effect"

Yes we can compete with Bristol Rovers. But if he had talks with them he would be what we call realistic and not demand as much.
If he came to talk to us, he thinks he could demand 10k a week for example.

He wouldn't demand 10k a week in talks with Rovers.

Should for example Wednesday decide to take a punt on him, he would try demanding 15k or even more....
