Letting Collins shoot unchallenged was criminal but Cosgrove wasn’t on his own there. On the positive side he showed with that header what a danger he could be with proper service, yes it wasn’t far out but he fair launched himself through their defenders to get on the end of it. Apart from being involved in the ‘none’ tackle incident, I thought he had a good game.
Yes an unfortunate spelling mistake, wondered how long it would take. In my defence I am on holiday in Spain and the beer is nice
I don’t think it was laziness why he didn’t close Collins down. I think it was a genuine mistakes. He gestures at O’Keeffe to close him down as he was closer to Collins not realising that O’Keeffe couldn’t go as he was marking the player on the wing. Just a mix up that we unfortunately got punished for.
I think he had a great game. Devaney needed to find a way to bully their defence and he did that. But to run a season with him will require a team built around the big striker model. Crosses, longer balls players running off, physical duals. Maybe an option given we will rebuild anyway and have few resources to invest.
At least four players could have closed down and stopped that shot. Disappointed the highlights I've seen didn't show our penalty shout.
Agreed. I'm not down with the Cosgrove love in yet. 2 good performances. 2 swallows doesn't make a summer, to quote @Stephen Dawson . That said I'd love him to keep playing like that.
But that’s probably the first time he’s played two consecutive games this season and returned three goals, strikers need game time not sat on their backsides in the dugout
Was great to see him busting a gut to get to the ball for the first goal' clearing everything out inc the defender' good old fashioned centre forward throwing his weight around' thats what we and he has been lacking.
He's had a fair amount of game time. He lacks all the qualities Norwood had sadly, from what I can see. Cosgrove's first touch with his feet is terrible, Needs to be more savvy positionally & knowing what he can get away with, without giving a foul away. I hope he kicks on & proves me wrong though. Jalo is the only player with real talent we currently have up top, but I think a wide position would suit him better. That does not fit a 3-5-2 though, would need to be a 4-3-3 really.
I remember that comment from ESPN+, who I believe transmit Sky Sports games over here. It was not a good look.
I've been dissapointed with him up to the last 2 games but he's suddenly started to put himself about and seems to have grown in confidence and i'm starting to think he may come into his own next season if he starts regularly' i just hope the last 2 games don't get him a move' a few of the Bolton fans said they'd have him in a heartbeat.
