Police asking for people to stay away from there for 72 hours, apparently. I think I may be able to comply.
Im told from someone in the area, that a particular house was known for "growing". And as a result had been broken into to pinch the stuff. Which further resulted in the house being set up with explosives in case it was broken into again.
Chelsey Woollard, who lives just outside the cordon, said: "Never in Grimethorpe. Even from being a young child. "It was a beautiful village and this has come as a shock - not just to me but the whole village as well." Aye, oreyt - when did she move there, 2022.
We all like a good laugh at things like this but it must be awful for those who have had to leave home due to the actions of one selfish *****
My missus works a few doors up from the property in question.100m radius danger zone. The owner (i assume on suspicion of drugs) of the property had planted explosives everywhere round the house, and somhow had access to the old mining tunnels that run underneath. BDU were involved to disarm the "booby traps" while the police dealt with what sounded like a hostage situation. Rumours about a body found, but not certain. 2 arrests have been made. Area is closed off for the foreseeable. That's all i know
Indeed. It must be terrible to be told that you must leave Grimethorpe. But not quite as terrible as being told that it’s safe to return.
Oh my god. I’ve not read this yet before replying but I’ve not heard anything about this. My parents still live there!
