I aint settling for second best. I want to see slow improvement year upon year, unfortunately those running the club have a different goal.
Have we actually got someone running the club because we have heard jackshit about anything since before Collins went, since Collins left, the farce over the new manager, and the playoff’s not a bloody peep.
I don't see this as "investing" in the club. Investing to me connotes the injection of extra funding with a view to achieving growth and improvement as a club. The money they have put in is merely shoring up a flawed business model, in so far as ordinary expenses appear to exceed income. There is no evidence of transfer receipts (allowing for 'staggered' payments) being used to bring about any gradual improvement in the squad. The club are in a lower league than when the 2017 group (comprising some of the present Board) came in.
Let’s hope there’s no more unnamed investors given we’re still staring down the barrel of a EFL investigation into malfeasance on that front.
On 3, I don’t see an issue if there is a high level strategy that we need to play high press, high intensity, quick attacking football etc. what I do have a problem is where tactics and formations are being influenced by those above.
The people who now run the club are successful business people. Outside of their interest in BFC they've all made a load of dosh. Yet they persist with the same business model season on season. It's also widely known that the way to turn £10m into £1m is buy a football club. So knowing this and knowing that putting funds onto your club is virtually the way in the majority of league and Premier league clubs you begin to wonder what the long term plan is...They know if we'd have sneaked up this time all of the reward money for promotion would have been needed for players to keep us up but we we're sleepwalking towards the Championship with a 1st team of 4 players out of contract and 3 players on loan and not ours. Soz but I'm starting to drift back to the days of Chein and Conman and ask the question, Why are they here and what is the long term plan...Soz but the doubt is creeping back in..
I'm the same, we won't attract anything other than a yes man as a head coach with forced tactics and formations, we won't be in for players outside of that system either. I've absolutely no idea who decided this philosophy is the correct way to operate at the 3rd level of English football. It's one thing using data and having a recruitment team giving the head coach 4/5 options on players etc, but to completely take away any ability and autonomy of the head coach is ridiculous. We will struggle to fill the vacancy with anyone of any note.
So you think Val and Duff for example were "yes men",I don't think so. Both strong minded coaches who played there own style of football.
The big problem is recruitment. A lot of fans feel like they’ve been sold this idea of entertaining, high pressing football but then we’ve got centre backs like De Gevigney, McCart & Lopata who aren’t exactly blessed when it comes to sprinting. The two just don’t align. What we could do with is some kind of explanation from the board as to what the strategy is & if it is to play high pressing football then why did they sign the defenders they did? Do we just sign any talented players we can afford & hope they fit together or is there more of a strategy behind it?
JAQ and her husband were the anonymous investees within PMG, and the others discontinued their investment. The EFL charges against us are essentially because investors were hidden, which has been addressed. There'd be little point fessing up if we were continuing in the same way.
And they both left, arguably for better opportunities, but both didn't work under a DOF either, so not comparable. Your trying to make out that the next head coach will be able to fully implement his own playing style and formation, what part of the clubs statement on appointing a DOF don't you understand? "to create and implement a game model" and "to implement a coaching ideology to be used across the club" We've had this conversation umpteen times and you reply with objections to what is in plain sight to most. I'm happy to explain again, and again and again if you think the head coach decides what formation and style we play, so the coach will be playing 433 will he? Quite happy to say here and now it will be a permitation of 352.
Good points made, I think it's a case of they've pigeonholed us into a system then find the players available in that system are financially out of our budget or the opposite end of the scale, we're basically narrowing down all the filters on the spreadsheet, put brexit into the equation and work permit issues, the increase in data use across clubs and we are now fishing in a very small pond. Cost Age 352 system
If the HC isn’t allowed to implement his own tactics, formation, style etc then why bother getting one in the first place. Might as well let the Sporting Director or whoever it is take up the mantle as clearly they think they know better. LEAVE THE FOOTBALL TO THOSE WHO KNOW ABOUT IT !!!
Surely the whole point of a Director of Football is to appoint someone who DOES know about football. We are repeatedly told that the Board don't. If we've appointed somebody who is not suited to thar role it's a bad decision. Otherwise, it seems to me that it's exactly what some people moan daily about Board interference want.
