Wonder what’s happening behind the Ponty and East stands? All the services are marked up, from what i can see the vast majority looks okay so if it’s being re-surfaced would seem odd.
They are surveying the entire stadium in preparation for any future ground improvements I believe. Could be related to that.
Hmm ground improvements of the carpark sounds a bit worrying. Especially after the previous CEO stated in front of our owners that closing the carpark completely was being considered and the carpark season tickets aren't on sale for next year
They are making the car park smaller since it is now only ever half full. The rest of the area is being made into wildflower meadows.
Wow, talking about putting two and two together and getting five. A site survey of the whole stadium would show existing structures, drainage, and where all the utilities and services are, hence the reason for marking them up (at a guess).
The previous CEO said, just a few months ago that the complete closure of the carpark was being considered. This was in front of the owners of the company who didn't correct him. Season tickets for the carpark for next season have not been released for sale and no communication has come from the club to existing carpark season ticket holders as to when this may happen if indeed it will. That's more of the two plus two isn't it? The survey of the carpark is merely the extra one to get to 5
I would have thought the club would have to consult with the council of any major alterations within and outside the stadium. As they only have the lease. ?. They only own the club. The car park is a decent source of income. There was/is talk of an indoor social club etc. So not sure where that would come into the plans.
But context is important. The context of that conversation you are talking about was about the issues getting in and out of the carpark due to the increased requirements from SAG. Having a site survey you are always going to mark out utilities. As for the car park passes. They are going to put a fan zone somewhere. I've no idea where that is (Had heard rumors of the school but the club don't own that so investment in an area that would eventually get developed and would seem strange). Previously it was talked about in the area at the far back corner of Oakwell but it feels like that would be too far out of the way and people wouldnt bother for that reason. Maybe part of the car park is ear marked for this or maybe they are changing the layout to miminise the issues getting out or maybe they just have released them yet. I'm sure if there are any plans to change the car park they aren't going to be worrying and are more likely to be improvement to the facilities which is what the club and council are currently working on achieving. I think this survey is the first step in planning for these improvements.
I know context is important but the parking restrictions existed right up to last week so the clubs discussion and potential closure of the carpark was still relevant right up to last week and as I said, they haven't released any season tickets for the carpark for next season and when I asked they had "no information available at this time". You have to admit that with context that is pretty damn worrying for anyone needing or wanting to use the carpark. It's no different to if they put season tickets on sale but anyone in the west stand found that their seat wasn't available. Questions would be asked. If it was then discovered that the club was surveying the west stand then bigger questions would be asked surely? And that's all I've done here is say the combination of everything is quite worrying for those needing the carpark. In fact I think it's pretty appalling to have an early bird deadline for season tickets which means people with poor mobility having to take a massive gamble on whether or not facilities will exist to allow them to use the season ticket because the club have done a piss poor job of communicating (again)
The car park is of no interest to me as I don’t use it but those who cannot walk any distance cannot manage without it. For this reason I would imagine some kind of reduced capacity would have to be in any plans to change things. Odd that there has been nothing said about this but, presumably, a statement will be made soon.
I heard they were selling the lot and building houses (I thought I'd just jump in with a negative comment).
