I don't think this statement is true at all. Their husbands or fathers have. Doesn't make them capable or savvy.

My Dad was a teacher. I wouldnt be able to teach kids ****.

If this so called DOF of ours does his job correctly then he, along with the board will employ the best candidate, not just the cheapest option. What exactly are this DOF’s credentials anyway? to make us think that anything is actually going to change.

I think his credentials were given on here the other day. By Gally I think.
Whether he'll be any good I've no idea yet. Just like everyone else.
I think we need a good DOF though because every time we change manager who has complete control without a DOF the coaching staff get changed, players are no longer wanted by the new manager, it's short termism and chaos.
That being said I'm not particularly happy with recruitment and I'm not that happy with what is defined as our "style".
It was set out years ago around Stendel's time as front foot, expansive attacking football to entertain the fans. Stendel, Ismael and Duff all did that. But how they thought Schopp and Asbaghi fitted those criteria astounds me.

All I'm trying to make out is in my opinion neither Val or Duff were yes men.

The people on the Board don't get paid 100s of thousands though. They pay IN millions.
The only Board some people are going to welcome is one that's going to plough in tens of millions on top of covering our current shortfalls.
Anybody finds one...great, get them in.

But neither Val or Duff worked under at DOF implementing a playing style and coaching ideology so they didn't have to be yes men, your comparing things not on a level playing field.

I was happy when Daniel Stendel played lovely football in a 422 yes, I was happy when Val played his style and made us ridiculously hard to beat yes, I was happy how we played under Duff yes, am I happy with a DOF influencing on field things no absolutely not.

Plenty of other teams have DOFs, but where we differ afaik is that we offer the incoming HC very little autonomy over actual first team affairs. That's why nobody worth their salt who has a high stock ever takes us on. Any HC with any ambition, nouce or personality leaves us as quickly as possible too.

How many times have we approached coaches who've turned us down? You very rarely see that happening elsewhere, a team approaches a club about their manager, then boom, 2 or 3 days later they're in post. There must be something about BFC that really is very off-putting to HCs/ managers imo.

So here are these fantastically generous people working for peanuts while throwing millions of their own money into the club just to keep it going with no prospect of that changing in the near future...ya would think that's not good business..perhaps they need a plan to change that, oh..hold on..

Pretty sure Dane Murphy was as close to a DOF as we’d had previously. A CEO who had actually played football and understood the requirements of the game. I mean he’d done it in America so it doesn’t count, but it was our best season in 20 years

I've been going to make that point for a long time. I haven't as I'm not certain about Neerav. Be interested to know.

20 years of just 6 managers in complete control. Not a hint of short termism or chaos. Promotion, promotion, long term 2nd Division stability, then Premier League. And the best players, teams and football any of us have ever seen. It all started going wrong when power was taken away from the managers.

Think that’s correlation rather than causation. Plenty of clubs where the power was taken from the manager and it has brought success.
We got promoted to the Premier when you could still sustain a challenge in the Championship without splurging money up the wall.
I’d suggest Luton are the only team to do it since. Possibly Blackpool.

I don't think it is, not by a long chalk. We employed good knowledgeable football people and achieved success. Our DoF is now a psychologist.
