Are you responsible for devising the training of all electricians in the firm, from apprentices to experienced electricians, advising all electrician tutors how to conduct that training, but have never actually wired a plug? Or have you actually been trained by someone else and done the job? Our director of football has never played the game at professional level and does not hold any coaching accreditation.
I am not, the head of training and personal development is in charge of all that. And they have never been an electrician. They do however decide what courses/training to put the electricians on and decide who should deliver the training.
Again....please provide an alternative strategy. Don't say you don't get paid to do that. You don't get paid to criticise either but somehow feel you have the insight and depth of knowledge to do that.
Churton, you've said the same thing about a hundred times now. And you keep making it sound like fans are wrong and ignorant to want to see some ambition, and a bit of spending from the owners to help win promotion etc. And even if they do keep putting millions in, to keep covering up for their mistakes. Then you can't expect fans to keep bowing down to them, and keep saying how great they 'apparently' are.
I'll keep saying it as long as people keep doing nothing but criticise, refuse to accept the reality of football. Ambition is great, I'm ambitious that we can do what we do better. You and others repeatedly say there's a better way. Tell me what it is.
If your saying that we need a mega rich Man City type billionaire, then that's just ridiculous. None of us as fans, are asking for this. But we DO need owners who are willing to spend here and there, on the team. Why do you think fans keep suggesting the idea of "speculate, to accumulate" ? . I don't care that they are apparently spending millions each season to keep us going (to keep covering up for their incompetent mistakes). Yeah, wow!!. And as the owners, that is surely their responsibility, innit!. Otherwise, why are they doing what they do, as so called owners ?.
Which successful club doesn't have a DoF or head of football or similar in the modern era? We've only just appointed one.
Do you think the DOF at Man City and Liverpool is implementing a game model and coaching methodology influencing how Pep and Jurgen set up? So 2 of the most successful clubs are basically set up by a DOF and Jurgen and Pep just follow the club blueprint?
Stop recruiting bargin basement punts, appoint a Head coach who has on field autonomy that would be a sensible start.
They're not putting money in to cover up their mistakes. They're putting money in because expenses exceed costs.
Good point Man city's played 500 games Real Madrid's is a former Argentine international Inter Milan's is a former youth play who has been a coach since he was 18 Bayer Leverkusen's is a German international player Arsenal's is a Brazilian international PSGs is a Brazilian international Borussia Dortmunds is a German international Liverpool's new sporting director played 300 games Bayern Munichs played nearly 300 games for them and is an international footballer Rb Leipzig,s played nearly 300 games That's the top ten ranked clubs in Europe Ours has zero experience as a player
Jesus you lot just keep spouting it. First the Board is useless because they know nowt about football. So they appoint a DOF. You don't like that either. You think the Board picks the team. Now it's the DOF that picks the team. Why on earth would they install a DOF at considerable expense to do what they were supposedly doing anyway. I'd have sympathy for some of your myriad attacks if any of them were actually based on evidence. I'll tell you what. Much as I disliked his football in the end I'll put my house on the fact that the Board were neither picking the team for him or deciding the tactics.
Maybe that wouldn't be the case, or would be less severe if they were better at business. How much money did we lose from the shirt fiasco this season? From failing to display prices at the food kiosk? From only opening the fanzone about 5 times this season? From turning people away from an half empty carpark each week? From failing to open all stands for sell out games?
Do you reckon any of them would consider Arsene Wenger as a DOF? One of football's foremost thinkers. A glittering managerial career and one who kept Arsenal competitive with comparatively low budgets? Played a bit of French third tier football. That's not a defence of our DOF because he's only been here five minutes. He could be great, he could be rubbish. Why don't we wait for some evidence?
I haven't criticised ours at all. My only post on the matter was this because I saw people commenting about experience in the game so I just went and checked. The thing I find odd about ours though, and I just mean it seems weird rather than it being a complaint, is that we advertised for the role of director of football and appointed a sporting director.
I don't disagree but come on ST, those things are a drop in the ocean compared to the real costs. Selling a few extra burgers in the fanzine isn't going to plug a 3-5 million pound hole
What would be the difference other than semantics though? We don't play any other sports. Though I wish we did. I'd like to see the club branching out into other sports within the town.
It isn't but as Tesco say, every little helps. Plus I think its more than that. I think doing all those things and making oakwell a welcoming place to be can put a few hundred on the gate. Encourage 500 extra fans to turn up and it's a quarter of a million quid in ticket sales.
