Pretty outrageous suggestions coming from a former pro. Expect to hear it from a fan but he’s basically said that it would be more important to Spurs players that Arsenal don’t win the league, than winning a game v Man City.
Said the same thing. Well done to Roy for pulling him up on it, because afterwards he said 'well the fans would' Its that arrogance why I've gone off Arsenal lol
The main issue would be spotting the difference between Tottenham letting City win because they want to, and Tottenham letting City win because they're *****.
I’ve not seen the clip but I believe he’s probably right. If Spurs’ champions leagues hopes have gone I can’t imagine they’ll care much.
Most of the players aren't immersed in that rivalry so I'd take his comments with a pinch of salt! Plus Spurs can still get champions league next season!
I've watched a podcast the other day with a spurs fan on and he said the exact same thing, he'd rather lose to City and potentially miss out on a higher place in the league just to make sure Arsenal don't win the league.
My point is that it’s reasonable for fans to think that way, but for an ex pro to say that the players won’t want to win it is outrageous. Almost an admission of his own lack of professionalism..
Merson said Spurs fans will want to lose to Man City to help stop Arsenal winning the league. I believe him. Rooney in the same post match analysis said 100% some of the injured United players aren't injured and are saving themselves from flak by waiting to nearer to the Fa Cup final and Euros before coming back. I believe him too.
Saw a video yesterday of a pub full of Spurs fans singing "We're City till July". Be a weird atmosphere tomorrow.
Given the fact villa look like losing tonight's game. Spurs will have all to play for, re a champions league place. No brainer for the players to go all out for a win. And if I was a fan of spurs I'd be hoping for a win. Sunday Palace v Villa Blunts v Spurs
