There seems to be a lot of good write ups about him etc.

But with that being said, it feels very much more of the same as what we had under Collins. Possession based set up, with wing backs etc. Another former CB who is over seeing a team that is conceding a lot of goals. Did not work out for Collins doing that. Hopefully it works out better for Williamson if he does get the job.

I agree, and I've heard a lot of good things about him. But the 67 league goals conceded didn't happen in two games. That has to be a concern.

 

Alarm bells

 

A lot of write ups say good things about him but given the season we’ve just had, it’s hard to look beyond the goals conceded column.

I want someone to get us organised at the back and get us playing fast, purposeful football.

As always though, whoever it is that comes in, judge them by their time here.

I think this board must love putting money in to over the shortfall..

 

It's worrying how long it's taking. What's the hold up for whoever it is they want? Collins has been gone long enough and we've a big off season ahead.

 

I think his team lost 8-1 on aggregate in a play off game and the 2nd leg being at home and losing 5-1 is worrying. However hopefully we get the right player recruitment and he might be able to iron out the issues that existed in his MK Dons side.

Now I don’t really trust our recruitment team to get it right based on last season but it’s the hope that kills you.

 

Of all the people mentioned, we need someone who is capable of spotting, working on and sorting our defensive frailties. MDG could be very good with decent coaching around him; Pines is far from the finished article, despite being commanding and Earl needs getting back on track after losing his way. Cadden (if), Williams (if), O'Keeffe, Lofthouse and (esp.) Cotter all need coaching and the likes of James and Lopata need re-introducing and developing.

And that someone, of the people mentioned, though it pains me to say it in some ways, is Michael Duff.

I wouldn't have minded Duff but they say "never go back" for good reason. If it's Williamson just got to get behind him. Very similar profile to Duff.

 

Had we not pinned our hopes on a foreign coach who might have struggled to fulfil the criteria for immigration, we might have been in a position to make a speedy appointment.

 

Because Rotherham operate as a football club, with an actual manager, who's allowed to sign the players they want. What they don't do is run the club like a series of "Wheeler Dealers", bringing in jalopies in the hopes we can polish them up for a quick profit.
