It really wouldn't. Another football dinosaur like Warnock. He hasn't had a good record at any of his recent teams.
Would he unite the fans? Maybe the older generation who know of him as a player and what a legend he was for the team way back when, but for the younger probably more vociferous fans on x or facebook then may not so. If we get a coach in that can play exciting, attacking football then we have a better chance of uniting fans but that is my opinion
Good luck with uniting Reds fans. Corner flags only to blow in the wrong direction and some aren’t happy
I rather think his horse has bolted..... Some people would like him though as some would have liked Warnock. Uniting the fan base I think is all about getting the team to play some decent football which also has us somewhere up the table.
I don’t want him to get the job as I think he would be taking over at a terrible time but I don’t buy this ‘dinosaur’ nonsense & claiming that he’s been crap in recent jobs. He didn’t do any worse than his predecessor at Blackpool he just wasn’t able to turn things round. Considering they’ve failed to make the league one play offs with many of the same team that went down last season one would surely conclude they just weren’t good enough to survive last season. With Ireland he did a far better job than his successor who’s now left his job as well. I think his biggest problem is he always seems to get jobs at tough times. A fire fighter type. A bit like at Sunderland & Ipswich where he had next to no money to spend & then Keane came in & spent fortunes afterwards.
