    Good luck to him

At times he was clearly unhappy here for whatever reason or reasons but despite what people have said I don't think he ever played without trying he just isn't good enough to be influential every week and depending on how the opposition plays he can be totally ineffective or can look a different class.

I think he's the kind of player who will have more success in a team where strikers are making runs and which plays with wingers but it will also show up the weaknesses in his game if he has less support around him.

The jokes and snidey comments about his appearance have in my opinion been disgusting and have shown just how little a lot of people care about men's mental health. It's something people wouldn't dream of doing about a woman.

Personally I'll remember his time with us as a bit meh. Never really memorable or outstanding but never the worst player on the pitch either. Fairly reliable without being exciting and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Thought for a time if our team was going to play well then Herbie Kane needed to turn up and perform, he was that important to us.

A very good player at this level when he wanted to be, to be fair if his mind was already made up about leaving and then getting pelters from the fans I can understand why his performance levels dropped.

Not arsed about him going but very much a player who I believe will be remembered more fondly at other clubs when he goes there because I believe he has that in his locker.

You know, I don’t think he will be. I think he’ll be another Callum Styles, who drifts from Club to Club, dining on once being half decent. All the best to him like, genuinely.

A technically very good player who is let down severely by a lack of pace which means he can’t get away from his man.

he therefore quite often ends up slowing the team down, making it go backwards or dives, which he is excellent at.

has the ability to play some defence splitting passes from time to time.

have often felt like he doesn’t want to be at the club, for whatever reason, but has always seemed to work hard.

    good luck Herbie.

I mostly agree with all that....thought genrally we were better with him in the team.
He was a footballer and had an eye for a pass, his pace limited him and I thought a deep lying role suited him more, unfortunately we have Luca who can do the job with more umph (well for now!).
I think overall, our team didn't suit him, as we needed a different type of player, with more pace and trying to get on the front foot.
That said...I liked Kane and could never question his play, sometimes his application but not his play. One of the few who could old man our opposition and the ref with cheap free kicks.
Good luck Herbie and thanks fella.

No big miss. He'll be at Port Vale in two years after totalling 16 appearances at 3 loan clubs

Always came across as though he thought he was better than the club imo. Him leaving is a blessing if you ask me. Yes, he's technically good, but he's slower than I am and his diving was becoming a liability the more refs started to wise up to it.

Whenever we played a team with a half-decent midfield, he didn't have the time to do anything worthwhile, so he'd throw himself to the floor, or recycle the ball backwards.

To me Kane always seemed to lack effort and enthusiasm. Didn’t even seem that happy when we scored.

Would not be at all surprised if he ends up at Huddersfield with Duff.

He can only play the way he is facing, best way I can sum him up. Half decent at that, but lacking in so much more.

    So yh, meh.

Looks, plays and acts like a world-weary 46 year old divorcee middle-manager. 100% got a Nigerian birth certificate. Meh.

    His diving became embarrassing.

Only decent thing he had going for him was his tupee. It won more games than him.

I’m not saying the longer this thread gets, the worse Kane appears to be, buuuuuuut why did we ever consider signing a rampant one legged mad axe man who ate puppies during interviews? :)

I liked Herbie, thought he was a great player. Something(s) have been going on behind the scenes. I actually hope he comes out and says. It's a bit like Chaplin in a way.
