It doesn't look like Barnsley is mentioned in their 'coming soon' list of venues....I even scrolled down to T for Tarn.

It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but they’ve applied for a premises license.

Boom Battle Bar looks to be an extremely childish load of balls, perhaps it's an age thing but to me encouraging Bavarian axe throwing on licensed premises doesn't look like joined up thinking unless of course they're rubber axes.

It doesn't seem to fit with the area at all either. It isn't in the dining or drinking area it's at the alhambra side accessed next to JD sports and opposite an NHS clinic. Smacks of desperation to me. Get anyone in

Probably an age thing. Looks good fun to me.

It’s in a unit that was always planned for leisure use. They initially approached gym operators for the space, but they didn’t want it due to the amount of competition already in and around the town centre.

I think it’ll do very well tbh.

Yeah but there's a massive difference between a gym, which would be ideally placed above a sports shop and opposite another one with a secure carpark and a adults only (after 7) boozy bar in the middle of the shopping centre. There's leisure and there's leisure

Roxy lanes in Leeds is above retail units. It’s quite common. It’s also not the type of bar where people are going and getting smashed.

There's an axe-throwing bar that opened in York a couple of years ago. Must admit it seems like a bonkers idea to mix with alcohol and especially given the number of stag dos in the city in summer but it's still going and seems to be popular bar.

Do you think it should get the chop already?

Whistle Punks is the biggest 'chain' of these axe throwing sites. Just opened in Leeds before Christmas, with sites in Bristol and London as well. Might be them in York?

People need to remember that not ever shop, restaurant, pub and bar is for them. These venues offering a lot more than food and drink are taking massive share of the market. Millennial's all the way down to teenagers and families absolutely love them.

Its called The Hilt in York. The idea sounds like fun but was thinking more about the health and safety aspect with regards chucking axes around when half cut

I think they're pretty strict on drink consumption and have stewards around the venue.

I have seen one video where the axe flew back as it didn't land on the board properly, but I think it might have been a fake. I don't believe, because of their weight, that they can bounce back to where the participants are unless you absolutely welly it.

Maybe someone on here has been to one. Or maybe we should go axe throwing tomorrow night rather than being on social media? :D

Or if you weren't half cut when you went in you will be when you come out

I went to one on a stag do in Poland, it was a good laugh and really enjoyable. Hopefully the health and safety will be a bit stricter at the one in tarn...
