He was signed under Ismael and Ismael said he wanted him. Maybe not good enough at championship level but scored 16 and 18 goals in his two seasons at league one. He's rarely injured and always puts a shift in. We'll struggle to replace him.
That's the way I see it. If he consistently performed at his best, he'd never have spent his prime years with us. He'd have been a regular scorer in the Championship. Unfortunately he's always had consistency issues, hence him being a solid 3rd tier striker who often has streaks followed by dry patches. But I've never seen a lack of effort from him. Far from it.
If anything he tries too hard and gets in the way at times. Don't think him and Mcatee played well together. Always making the same runs.
I don’t think he put the effort in during our relegation season. He rarely challenged for a header but he’s certainly put a lot of effort in during the last two seasons. I just don’t think his body language helps him
Just watched the podcast, Devante only comes in 10 minutes from the end and doesn't mention us or any team he's played for. It was more a section about growing up with Andy Cole as your dad and the differences between him and his father.
