Just feels like the board are trying anything to appease fans at this point. We don’t have a squad suited to how Stendel played first time round & Hourihane’s never coached before (at senior level). They’ve also never worked together. We should be looking for a management team to come in who have had success together somewhere. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing a professional & well run outfit would be looking to do.
Prior to becoming our manager Danny Wilson had a player/coaching role with us alongside Viv Anderson.
The Board really can't win, can they? An unsubstantiated rumor about a left-field Austrian unknown, or such-like, and they are not listening to the fans. An unsubstantiated rumor about a couple of fan favorites, and they're only doing it to please the fans.
I agree it looks like the board are a bit too keen to do something, anything, to please folk. Sacking Collins is a case in point. But we are where we are and of what's available I'll take Stendel any day.
Sorry but on an emotional level, if you can't get excited about those two leading out the reds in August maybe its not the sport for you. Sensible? Who knows. More bums on seats? 100%. Worth a pint? It's a yes for me.....
As an accused member of the "knock the club at every turn brigade", I hereby tender my resignation. If this is true, I support it 100%.
Agreed,Stendel exudes passion,it oozes out of the man.Hourihane in the mix as captain and coach adds the experience.
Mine too, but that ship has sailed. Personally, I think that Hourihane coming in as assistant for his first job under a manager who's had success with us already and plays great football is something to genuinely get excited about. I'll certainly be renewing if this happens.
But that was unrealistic. Why not say Pep? He wouldn't have come back here after all vitriol fans gave him when he left. Not to mention we'd have to pay a bomb to get his Swansea contract covered. He couldn't get us up with a 10 million quid defence. No guarantee he can do it with a much worse one.
Id be happy with a Hourihane return, just skeptical about Stendal. The one thing I would say is though, it’s a better option than Williamson, or Tallywhacker.
I’d have Conor back purely for his exceptional ability with free kicks and corners. Imagine having someone who can pick out a team mate consistently. We’ve been missing that for a long time.
That's my view. Conor has just captained a team to promotion out of the league we want to get out of. He's still got it and it would be good to have him back. Stendel though....Imagine the uproar if we got someone else who hadn't coached a first team in years and had been a failure at all but one club.
