Talking of giving owners some respect for pumping cash into clubs he says........."If I had the millions to go and buy Barnsley, would I be willing to put my families money into it........" No one had mentioned Barnsley, think that shows where his heart is.
That's what I meant. Hecky does but not the other two. & when Hecky mentioned buying Barnsley just as an example, did you see Simon Jordans face?
Hecky was taken to Oakwell regularly by his Grandad, Richard (Dick) Starkey. His Grandad had quite a back story. During WW2 he piloted a Lancaster bomber and on one raid he was shot down and his parachute failed to open. How he survived and lived to tell the tale, which he did in a book called 'A Lancaster Pilot's Impression On Germany', was incredible. Dick later worked for British Coal at Grimethorpe Area HQ where my Dad was a colleague of his. Dad spoke well of Dick and I'd be surprised if something hadn't passed down the gene pool to Hecky.
Simon Jordans right though it's embarrassing for everyone at Sheff Utd the owner both managers and the players this season.
I thought he came across well. He did mention us, whilst predictably Jim White did not. Liked seeing Simon Jordan look up when Hecky mentioned buying Barnsley, seemed to poke his interest a little. Big fan of Simon Jordan too as it happens.
Not my question I realise, but, he looked up and there nothing to glean from that other than he looked up. I am not sure how much attention he was paying to be honest as he seemed to be concerned with something else.
I don't particularly like Simon Jordan to be honest. But in fairness he knows his stuff, whether I or any of us disagree with him. And as for the former golden boy Heckytaarn, well I think there's more of a chance of Jordan himself managing/coaching us instead!.
I think Simon Jordan makes some interesting points and is good at taking a debate forward. The annoying bit is how he uses 40 words to say a 10 word sentence and include words that appear to be his attempt at positioning himself as the higher intellectual authority on the topic discussed. But hey thats his trade mark right? On the other hand Jim Whites arguments seem overly simplistic and often fall at the first hurdle. i don't think Hecky has changed much. Seems to be here and there in our community and supports BFC. Im actually not sure where hos managerial level is. He has had some high level opportunities but is it Championship, L1 that is his sweet spot im not sure.
