The last interaction that Herbie had with the fans as a whole through the media, was his "unusual" interview, whereas he seemingly couldn't be arsed to be interviewed. From that moment onwards, I personally felt that Herbie wasn't really enamoured towards the club. He's entitled to feeling that way, if that's how he felt towards the club. But for me, in my own opinion, I felt that from that moment onwards, he downed tools. That's why I'm not surprised that he's not posted anything positive towards the club following the end of his contract. I'll give him kudos though, for not blowing smoke up our arses and telling us how he loved it at Oakwell. No doubt our paths with cross again, but hopefully he'll always remain on the losing side.
He's not from barnsley and therefore I wouldn't expect him to be all in for the club. If I left my job, I wouldn't care either way if I ever saw any of my colleagues ever again. Its not family and friends, it's just work.
It's a nice gesture if a player makes the effort to thank a club and it's supporters but by no means is it obligatory. If he were a fans favourite or he'd been at the club 10 years or something then maybe I'd expect something from him. I thought Kane was OK for us but not a world beater. So I personally wouldn't feel let down or disappointed if he says nothing.
Some of the criticism of him in my opinion has been over board. Clearly not had a good time at Oakwell (not the only guy, which is a concern) so why should he be disingenuous? Decent player. Hope he's happier wherever he ends up.
Speculation or you've got some info? Not that I'd be surprised as Herbie clearly backs himself to be able to perform in the Championship. Fair play to him.
Cost us £1m+ was wanting to go when Kitching went looking at his message at the time. More crablike than Butch Wilkins.
Herbie used to go to same barbers I go to in town along with a few other players and one of them was telling the lad who cuts my hair. Apparently a done deal but nothing disclosed publicly as yet
True but devante Cole put one out who got alot more stick. And put something in along the lines of I know I won't please everyone but thanks to the ones who sang my name.
Also caddens already packed and buggered off back to Scotland by all accounts, til he gets a new club
It absolutely isn't obligatory. However... if a player has a social media account and clearly uses it regularly, as Kane does (doesn't post a lot but you can see he's active), then I think a goodbye message even short and sweet is a decent thing to do. I can't see why Kane should have any animosity towards the club or fans to be honest. The fact that the likes of Roberts and McAtee posted something and they were only on loan, plus Williams, Cadden and Cole did, just goes further to convince me that he's a bit arsey, as per his media interviews, and not the sort of character I want at the club or would want on my team as a player. Aside from that, decent player and no more. Never pulled up any trees and can you remember a single game that he grabbed by the scruff of the neck and won for us, as most decent midfield or forward players do from time to time? Would struggle in the Championship in my opinion.
Either way the person doing his hair definitely wouldn’t be advertising it. Not exactly one to put in your portfolio is it
Totally agree. I think the fact he’s played for us for a number of years and there’s no real affinity from player or fans tell its own story. Just an average player - wish him all the best but not really going to miss his style of play.
He was one of the biggest waste of money in our entire history. For a seven figure sum plus wages, we got nothing like value for money and then we lost the whinger for nothing. He rarely won a MOTM award.
