The left back situation is a worry. He’s said Shaw is unlikely to be fit which leaves no natural left backs in the squad. Considering it’s likely to be Foden or Bellingham on the left who both like to cut in that will leave us with very little width down the left. I would’ve liked to have seen a natural left back in there. Tyrick Mitchell, Lewis Halll, Leif Davis. Just someone well suited to the role. I can’t understand why we’ve got 7 centre backs in a provisional squad & only 1 left back. Rest of it makes sense to me. James & Chilwell are too unreliable. Rashford & Phillips have had terrible seasons. Sancho may consider himself unlucky but it’s a strong area of the pitch for us. Toney’s probably a bit lucky to get the nod over Solanke but neither would play so it doesn’t really matter
I think Mitchell of Palace Tomori of Milan and Solanke of Bournemouth all should have been given a chance. Picking an unfit left back an aging centre half who does not look international quality and an out of form striker isn't the wisest of choices.
As they are both similar is it possible to play Foden and Palmer in the same starting eleven ? They with Bellingham are probably the best young talent we have.
Possibly if Southgate plays Bellingham a little deeper .eg- ________Pickford_______ Walker Stones Maguire Shaw ___________Rice__________ _______Bellingham _______ Saka_____ Palmer____ Foden ___________Kane________
