    100% agree Curt.
    Inspired choice by the looks!!
Just read the article posted by Dreamboy 3000.
What a man. What a character.
A lesson in how to cope with adversity.
I'll be contacting my brother in law who is a CTFC season ticket holder to get more info.
Personally feel.v optimistic with this appointment.

Had to laugh at this description of him as a player. Sounds like he'll fit right in to develop our current keystone cops at the back.

I've lumped on him getting the Swansea job in 2025.

He transformed the team from being potentially dead and buried to being actually dead and buried?

    600+ games as a player.

    400+ games as a manager.

Overcome loads of adversity with personal tragedies, which shows mental toughness.

Ambitious guy who wasn't happy with Cheltenham lacking ambition to get straight back up.

    5 promotions.

4 wins from 4 play off seasons.

Took Bristol Rovers from non league to league one.

Only got relegated at the final game even though Cheltenham started the season with no goals scored in their first 10 games.

To me it looks an inspired choice.

    Yup, awful luck.

Cracking keeper at this level but just awful timing for him with that injury. Without that I am sure he would have had a whole host of suitors at this level.

    Thanks for posting Dreamboy.
That article says so much about the guy. If he's been able to cope with that kind of adversity and trauma and still keep his head and come back into football, then to me, this looks like an inspirational appointment. He'll.re organise that football isn't the most important thing in life and he'll also not stand for any pissing about.
His motivation and his statements about doing it for his daughter will drive him to drive his success in a way no other managers will.be driven.
I would urge all posters on here to read the link you've posted and maybe, just maybe, a little bit.....maybe the perennial moaners will.just quieten down for a bit, reflect on things and try and recognise that, of all the people we could have appointed, this guy deserves the opportunity.

When he took over at Cheltenham they looked destined for relegation and he made damn sure that happened.

    Can't stop giggling.

We've sacked a manager that got us in the play-offs to replace him with a manager who got his team relegated from the same division.

It's difficult to know what to say. Wonder if anyone at the club is interested in swapping their 10,000 quid for my two pound fifty.

Like others not really heard of him.
Quick Google search couple of things stood out:
    Gets results
    Has Player loyalty
At most jobs he has overseen wholesale changes of personnel and then backed that up with success.

I didn't know too much about him but looking deeper into it he does seem to be what we need right now, lets hope we can bring 5 or 6 decent players in to help him hit the ground running in August.

I'm not sure how you've reached this conclusion, he came in to a team that had picked up 1 point from 10 games, to getting 12 in their next 10 games including a draw against Derby and a win against Oxford, then for the rest of the season ensuring they never lost more than 4 games in a row and only missed out on safety by one result at the end.

They also lost their best player in Alfie May to Charlton which made things infinitely harder for them.

Where have you got the impression he made damn sure they were relegated? By any Cheltenham fans opinions of him i've seen they're all positive and said he's a brilliant manager and they're gutted he's leaving.

They actually live in the same house. Its the premise for a new sitcom - 4 football managers who all held the top job at Cheltenham but went onto other things...

100%. It looks like an inspired choice and he looks to be someone we could take to very quickly. I had never heard of him but I'll be gutted now if it doesn't happen.

Did they not get relegated then?
My conclusion was that they were, is that incorrect?

Ridiculous assessment of what Clarke did at Cheltenham and a twisting of the facts to suit your issues with Collins’ removal. Yes he was relegated - but to have gained 44 points from thirty odd games with the side he took on was a monumental achievement and I’d argue dwarfs what Collins did with our squad. We didn’t have the greatest squad but Cheltenham would have been lower half in league two.

We get that you don’t like that Collins was sacked. We (or at least I) fully understand why you think that way. Even if I don’t agree, that’s fair enough.

    But it’s done. Move on.

Don’t denigrate the new manager before he even starts to enhance an argument that is futile at best - and whether you think it is a good appointment or not; whether you think Collins should still be in position or not, we are where we are, and surely from here we all just get behind him?
