There's a boat-load of good free agents this year for whatever reason. And we've got plenty of money in the wage pot now Kane, Cole, Cadden and Williams have gone. All good servants to the club during their time, but for me, it had gotten stale and I think we're in for a cracking season - and I say that as a member of the "knock the club at every turn" brigade
Some great points there fitzytyke. Something I'd like to add regarding rumors and TITK.A couple of weeks ago I was reading this board and almost drowning in the attack and lies thrown not only at the club but also fellow supporters. At the time I was sitting on some news which I was desperate to keep but a wrong judgment got the better of me and I decided to share quite but not all that I knew, not for praise or browny points but to lift the spirits of my fellow fans. For my trouble I got quite a lot of in my view undeserved abuse. I'm not a teenager who spreads and repeats rumors from the play ground I'm a mild mannered man climbing (too quickly) towards my 70 .s and for my sins I tried to shine alight on proceedings. Some of the abuse was from those who I would expect but I also got some from members of Site Admin. which I must admit hurt. What I did do knowing the cynics on this board would start firing bullits I engaged with a fellow BBS er who had contacted me asking what I knew.He agreed at my request to keep the information given to him quiet which he did.The point I'm trying to make is by sharing some of my info.it gave me a timeline to the events I told him. As Devante Cole said in his leaving interview,"you can't please everybody".
No point being giddy at this moment in time. Things have yet to pan out. More player sales, recruitment etc. We also dont know how performances will pan out under the new manager. I'm not giddy at all. I'm waiting to see what else happens and Ill get giddy, depressed or 'meh' when I've watched a few games next season. Simply, there aren't enough reasons to be giddy at the moment. Reasons to be cheerful part one...?
I think anyone’s welcome to speculate or claim to have ‘inside knowledge’, it’s part and parcel of the traffic that flows through the message board. It’s up to others how reliant they become on it, so it shouldn’t be used to bash fellow fans or the club when it doesn’t materialise. Club decided a few years back that they were to be more secretive about their dealings until completed, yet they still get stick for not telling us anything, even when there’s nothing to tell.
I hope you’re right. It’s nothing against the manager. I think he could do a decent job & still not have us in the play offs. Due to poor recruitment last summer it means pretty much every signing this time round has to be a success.
That's why I don't get attached to players and care who stays and goes. You have to trust the head coach and the recruitment team. For example Connell and Phillips. They're well liked by fans but if Clarke wants to change things up I'd accept that. Clarke might think the lad from Accrington, Grant and Hourihane might be better options if they sign.
I would like to see 4312 New GK MDG at rb, Pines, New Centre half (Mark Robrts) Earl at LB Phillips Hourihane Connell Jalo - free role Cosgrove , New experienced striker Killip Okeefe New LB Cotter Russell Benson Watters Marsh, Yoganathan, James Dallas Lopata Shepherd given squad time Flexibility to change formation during game time. MDG and Earl not ready for central defence positions but both decent with the ball and would make good full backs and add height to a back 4.
He’ll play a back 3 Pines if fit Connell and Phillips in a midfield 3 Cosgrove,Jalo hopefully getting more game time A new keeper and Left wing back and striker needed as priorities
With the right coach I would bet that some of those players on my sub bench may come good next season. A coach can have a massive impact on a player for good or bad. We have seen plenty of examples ové the years
