    This. I don't see him coming (wouldn't particularly want him either) but does anyone really believe that George is going to leave a side that's just been promoted to the Premier League to come back down to League 1? Even if Ipswich are ready to move him in he's going to fancy himself to find a Championship club (Wednesday? Derby?).

    The fact they've just recently employed a director of football and given him the fresh start with his own manager pick and set him on to go out and do press to promote Clarke makes any rumour like this absurd.

    I'll entertain it in thought for a moment

    The only way I could see it ever being in any realm of possibility that we've considered bringing Hirst in would be if the board felt they needed a CEO (with no experience) with experience on the pitch and had decided that Flatman was either leaving or moving back to his role as Chief financial officer, or Hirst was up for some form of role within the scouting setup they are rebuilding.
