Me and my lad renewed the day Collins was sacked. I know a few others that were not renewing while he was in charge that have done since. I appreciate I don’t know that many people in the grand scheme of things and a small sample size might not reflect the fan base as a whole. But I’d be interested to see how many renewed pre and post Collins sacking. I honestly think numbers would be down if he was still here.
I renewed after he had gone but that wasn’t the reason for doing it. Players and managers have never influenced my decision to go to Oakwell, or not.
We do have a problem with churn I’m told. (Ie its not the same 7.5k who renew each year) That was part of the thinking around the early bird also being loyalty based (ie those who’ve had a season ticket in the last x years can renew at that price)
That's the one bit I didn't agree with tbh. And I say that as someone who benefits from it. For me the EB £ should be the same for everyone, regardless of whether they had a season ticket last year or not. Seems unfair on those buying one for the first time like.
Rotherham have sold 3500 as of yesterday - they have until 24th June though to get a set price. not entirely clear on the wording though as it gives 2 dates?
Massive point. You made there. My son for example. Bought 2 (£10 each) for his daughters (7 and 10. Funny names really) last season. Both went to very few. And 1 less than the other. So he has just bought 1 this season at £29. And if they both want to go will buy a day ticket if needed at £5. He will only be out of pocket if more than 6 games as near as damn it. And it gives the club the opportunity to sell that seat to anyone. Win win for both. Son and club.
I wonder how many of the number published are juveniles who, for various reasons, will miss many if not most games. It’s a nice idea encouraging your kids to take up the lifelong habit, but chances are they’ll be more interested in gazing at their phones all through the game. I’m sure we’ve all seen examples.
Exactly what happened in my example. The youngest one. Was more interested in other distractions from the game. And the eldest does dance lessons at midday so a bit of a rush to get changed and tut game. Night games neither went. School next day.
That's three of you then. I doubt it made a blind bit of difference, we have a 8k solid season ticket support, we touch 10k when we're doing well.
Absolutely not it’s called early bird to incentivise fans, imagine if it was there would be no point in doing it again.
Make that 6. Me and two others too. Renewed when we got rid of him. I know you say we have a solid 8k support and it won't have made a blind bit of difference but the schopp season saw 8 people who have sat around me for decades not renew so I wouldn't be surprised at all to find another boring season seeing quite a lot more cancelling
