With some signings. Is everybody still on holiday?

I was once asked outside Kings Cross station if I was wanting any business.
Still don't know what she meant.

 

Looks like a lot of players are just getting back from holidays now. Just from looking at Instagram, I can see Devante Cole is in Mexico, Jon Russell is in Thailand, Donnie Pines is in Washington, Bambo Diaby had just got back from the Seychelles, James Norwood has popped over to Turkey to get his hair sorted out, Josh Benson, Josh Earl and John McAtee have all just got back from wherever they've been.

Mladen and Darrell Clarke have both said that recruitment discussions have taken place and targets identified.

It's just a case of being patient.

Outgoings are just as important as incomings. We've got quite a bloated squad, and whilst a big chunk of wages has been freed up by the outgoing players, we might have to move on a few fringe players too in order to get some of our targets.

Rotherham have let about 18 players either leave or return to parent clubs, so obviously they're in a slightly easier recruitment position at the minute.

Steve Evans is probably loving it. Rotherham is huge upgrade from Stevenage in terms of budget, and he’s seen to be wheeling and dealing, but how many of these players did anyone else actually want?

I remember Charlton signing loads of players before last season, but they turned out to be very average, drawing almost half of their games.

 

Pre-season doesn’t start until 1July so I’d imagine we might see a signing or two a week or so before that

Yep I tipped charlton to go up last summer with who they were signing and they never got going.

 

Many on holiday still - and rightly so. This is their down time. Many will have contracts agreed prior - others will know they’re good enough not to worry too much.

I flew out on same plane as Jacob Brown and Jordan Williams the other week. Jacob was getting Married in Majorca.

He flew back on same plane as me this week, but others still out there.

Being involved in the playoffs mean the club are a couple of weeks behind others too - as whilst will have options for both outcomes, you can’t confirm either.
