"I don’t even support any other football teams. It was just always where my dad was at the time. I probably look for Sheffield Wednesday’s results after ours, but other than that there’s none really."

The ours in question is Blackburn because he was playing there at the time.

    That's a fair point and one I hadn't considered.

Think he said in an interview before the end of the season that he's enjoyed his time at Blackpool, and wouldn't mind staying there.

For me, he's not the sort of player we should be going for if we're ever going to get back to being an established 2nd tier side, which is what we should be aspiring for. There's younger, cheaper and I'd say just better options out there.

We've got a few of those already, and they're really setting the league on fire aren't they !!

We actually had 6 strikers to rotate in the 2nd half of the season, and they weren't bad either. Morris, Dike, Woodrow, Chaplin, Adeboyejo and Frieser.

Fair enough Archey but I think we need two strikers in in the summer, one that we spend a bit of money on and one experienced, cheaper option to see us through next year. If Rhodes was the latter I'd snap him up.
My ideal first four next season would be a Winnall type signing, Jalo, Cosgrove and someone like Rhodes. Hopefully the season after that Winnall mark 2 and Jalo would be fully firing and ready for whatever division we find ourselves in.

The likes of Shaw, Dallas and Watters aren't bad players because of how much they cost or their age.

That's fair enough, I just personally don't think we should be stretching our already tight playing budget on a short term fix like Rhodes, particularly given his recent injury record and goal record (prior to last season). I don't necessarily disagree that we could use a bit more experience, I just don't think he's the answer.

Oh I agree he needs to be the right price. If he is I think he'd be a great 3rd, 4th string. The main thing is going out and getting a goalscorer of the right age though and I hope we're going to spend a bit of cash to get one. With the strikers we have on our books at the moment a complete gamble is not what we need on a replacement for Cole.

He did some coaching at one of my old football teams when he was injured at Huddersfield and said he was a Barnsley fan and he only left cos his dad moved

I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of those who will tell any random fan that he supports whichever club they do.

I agree that we shouldn't be taking too big a gamble in replacing Cole, but I'd argue Rhodes falls into that category too, given his injury troubles.

I'd love us to go get Gassan Ahadme from Ipswich. With them going up I can see them being open to offers, and he's scored goals at this level too. He also misses a large chunk of last season injured, but I'd certainly be more willing to go for someone of his ilk, particularly if we end up playing more of a press next season. He's certainly a handful, is quick, and has an eye for goal.

Nombe has a long contract at Rotherham, so I can't see him moving on anytime soon.

I don't know much about Max Dean, though again, I wonder if he's tied to a long term deal too. So again, he'd command a decent fee if he were to leave.

I would have rhodes wildsmith and hourihane. A couple of quick players on loan and that would complete our package.

    Excited for a rebuild

He's only too expensive if he doesn't get another club willing to pay more and that's not guaranteed for a player his age.

    That’s wrong.

You’ve believed what’s on Wikipedia. It hasn’t been updated since Christmas.

It is 15 goals in 29 appearances; his last goal came before Christmas and he only appeared in four of Blackpool’s last seventeen games; he didn’t score in any of his last ten games. He had 15 in 19 after the game on 23 December - but he did play ten more games after that.

He did have a knee injury at one point but do we want to take a punt on a player who made only ten appearances without scoring since Christmas? Only four since January, and none since March? I’d say no to be honest. Unless he’s got low wage demands.

Also, Jordan isn’t a Barnsley fan. Another lad I know pretty well, or used to anyway. As a young lad he liked Everton.
