Looks like just another in a long line of season ticket sales boosters that disappear. This seasons Kevin Phillips if you like.
I can’t really get excited about houriane coming back not half the player he used to be bit meh for me.
He isn’t the same player but the experience he’d bring that’d rub off on the likes of Connell and Phillips can’t be underestimated. He’d still have something to offer even if it isn’t every week. He’s definitely not got the mobility but still has that wand of a left foot. Refuse to believe it’ll happen until it’s officially announced. Still reckon he’ll end up somewhere like Wrexham for one last pay day.
He's done an interview today on some Derby podcast and I stumbled across it through Twitter. Had a listen and he's starting his next coaching course on 17th of June. He also said at the end that it was right time for him to leave as he knew he'd get very little game time next season. When asked about his future, he said he is excited about the coaching but will still be playing a bit next season in a hybrid player coach role. So he's clearly made a decision and something is sorted. Hopefully it is with us.
He's just captained the side who finished second in our division last year, playing 41 times. Obviously he's in the twilight of his career, and he's not going to play every game or score and assist 20 goals. But having someone with his experience as a leader to see out a game, or get the best out of the likes of Phillips could be the difference between us challenging the top 6 again, or pushing the top 2. Just my opinion like, and I'm ordinarily against these short term fix options.
He's the exact sort of bloke you want around the team too. Even if he doesn't play each week like at Derby. He's the perfect person to be around the group and to bring on
Would that have been premier league John Hendrie as opposed to league 1 Conor Hourihane...........sithi.
