I don't know why the two have to be exclusive. Barnsley will always be the priority and it's always more important that they win but I'd dearly love to see England win something in my lifetime.
I'm generally more Club than Country, but I'd love to see England win it. We've been close recently & probably have one of the strongest squads we've had in a long time, but can Southgate forge a team out of it?
I’m very patriotic and would love England to bring it home but it just won’t happen with the defence we have but I’d still make success for Barnsley fc as my number one priority.
I saw England in 66. Brilliant though it was I didn’t realise how fortunate we all were at the time. It would be good to see them win the Euros if only for John Stones to be able to have an International medal to complete the set. If they can I’m thinking that that would rank him together with Kyle Walker along side Bobby Charlton for having a full set of club medals plus an International one. (I’ve not extensively researched that.) Charlton didn’t have a league cup medal but I don’t think Man U would ever have been involved in it during his time there Re club v country then it’s The Reds just a nose in front of Engerland
Club every day of the week but if you asked me what historical result I would change if I had the power, I'd be choosing the Italy '90 semi-final over any Barnsley game (I think)
I honestly don’t think they are exclusive? I imagine most Barnsley fans are England fans as well and as they’ll never play each and fixtures rarely clash surely you can support / enjoy both? Im not arsed as it happens as international football is boring as hell! Watching England has never made me feel the way watching Barnsley does. But I suspect I’m in the minority. Although someone should definitely have a word with those who stick flags to their car!
Country over club for me, 14000 happy Barnsley supporters (call it more if we count plastics) or a nation of happy supporters, one clear winner for me.
Club football apart from Barnsley I have zero interest. International football at least you can't buy success. However if I had to choose between England winning a trophy or Barnsley winning the FA Cup even though it's devalued these days. I'd take the FA Cup happily.
Reds every time. I’ll probably get into this tournament once it starts but I’ve had waaaay too many let downs watching England over the years to build up hopes any more.
A choice between Barnsley going up and England winning the euro's there's no question - I'd take Barnsley promotion every time. Would like England to do well, but that defence is absolutely babba, and it doesn't matter who you've got upfront, if you can't defend in tournament football you're done. btw - England brought it on themselves as well - there's a world class Defender somewhere sunning himself because they couldn't behave professionally towards him - Ben white.
I've found the older you get the more disinterested I get with international football,it used to mean something to play for your country I don't get that feeling from the multi millionaires that make up the squad these days. I would add one more option that beats club and country hands down is watching your 11yr old Grandson smashing a last minute winner in and to put the cherry on the cake most of them he plays with are wendies and there stood clapping a lad from the tarn priceless.
Dundee United fan since birth (67) years ago. I bleed tangerine. Only seen Scotland 4 or 5 times. No real interest. Obviously I like to see them win but if we lose not really bothered. United every time and same goes for Barnsley my English team of choice.
Man utd and Bobby Charlton featured in the league cup when it was worth a european place in the late 60s. Looking at wiki. Charlton played over 4 yrs and in quite a few games.
Barnsley to win a meaningless end of season game or England to win the World cup/Euros, Barnsley every time.
