Instead of constantly granting planning permission to big developers like Barratt' Redrow etc' why don't the council buy the land themselves and build council houses? ' the big companies are laughing all the way to the bank' building unaffordable homes and popping a couple of association houses in a corner somewhere. The way i see it is' granting planning permission for 200 houses means 200 new council tax bills every year ' easy money for the council..
Easy for Farage to talk the talk when he knows he wont have to walk the walk. Unfortunately, a lot of people will be taken in by him offering easy solutions to difficult problems, when there's no so such thing. Fortunately, most people can see right through him.
Council's simply don't have money to build houses with and because of Tory cuts in the past they no longer have structures or expertise in place to manage the building of houses. It would be a bit like asking me to knock up a new housing estate, I wouldn't be able to. I don't think it's easy money for councils either with council tax. Doesn't the cost of people living in an area outweigh the income from council tax? I may be wrong on that.
And even more fortunately, it's likely to split the Tory vote, very likely leaving them in double figures.
Would be great but again, where is the cash coming from for councils to start mass house building projects? Plus many who require these council homes will be claiming welfare due to their circumstances so the council taxes collected wouldn't probably be as high as you'd expect.
Interesting reply mate and well balanced view of how you see the Uk. But it will come as no surprise I disagree. Uk is totally unbalanced with Westminster robbing everyone and giving little back. Your per capita idea is interesting but the establishment would not entertain it. Naw it has to be full independence for me. Scotlands Oil, Gas, wind power, wave power, solar power. Add Whisky, fish, fresh water which is in short supply in England. IMO we have more to gain than lose. So MDG can we just agree to disagree
I dont dictate to anyone. Merely express an opinion as I did on that very post you highlighted. If you agree with my opinion fine, if you don't that's fine as well. I do suggest though that you start to back up your comments with explanation rather than calling people 'brainwashed' etc otherwise you'll probably find people will ignore you because they'll feel you have nothing to say. Alternatively, people will just insult you and whatever the thread is will simply turn into a slanging match between them and you (which looks to me which you'd enjoy). Bottom line is its much better if people put stuff on which is explained. You dont seem to do that for some reason. Also, regarding my username which you also refer to I dont think its offensive really, just a silly name. If you respond to my posts in future try to explain yourself eh? Would be nicer all round. x
Well partially found by using funds from house sales as aforementioned. Lending is what they all do, so lending to fund much-needed things like social housing makes sense, does it not?
Perhaps not as many as you think. I keep seeing reports of families with both parents working full-time, struggling with rents/mortgages so, the chance of a decent council house with an opportunity to buy a bit further down the line, may be quite appealing to them
Farage has been on a Reform UK bus this morning around Hoyland Centre and then onto Barnsley with our good friend and Councillor David White. The same David White who has only attended around half of the council meetings in the last year but opted to take his full council wage. The same David White who doesn't pay his taxes. The same David White who is trying to con people into buying dodgy Cryptocurrency.
a united Ireland would make the situation easier. Sadly ease isn’t it going to sway this. More by problems than it solves.
