We've already signed someone. Rotherham have signed seven players. The opening of the window makes little difference.
I'm not so bothered about signings, but hopefully we find out about Styles. Surely we set a deadline for the option before he triples his value at the Euros.
Doesn't matter how well he does, isn't the release set at £2m? If he single handedly wins the tournament for Hungary we're only going to get the release clause fee.
Not sure that means we have to sell him to the first bidder though. I would imagine if there are several interested parties, that could affect the price, although I think it would be more about who offered him the best personal terms.
12 months left on his contract, I'd be amazed if we get £2m for him now. Presumably there's an expiry on the deal with Sunderland, though there's nothing stopping them, or another club coming back in after.
Depends how much the purchase clause we agreed in the loan deal is for. You'd have to assume it's for less than the release clause in his contract otherwise there's no point to it, unless it gives Sunderland first dibs maybe? So if the purchase claus eis £1m and his release is £2m you'd have to hope we obligated Sunderland to use it before the Euros.
He’s a bit of an anomaly really, isn’t he? It’s not like we’ve sent him out on loan to a lower placed or smaller club with a view to development. Hes actually being loaned out to play at a higher level, and not really pulling up any trees, yet gets picked to play international football. He supposedly signed a new deal to favour the club, but as you say, he could go for next to nowt.
Sunderland aren't gonna pay £2 mill and he certainly hasn't put himself in the shop window thus far' take the first sensible offer and get him off the wage bill.
