Anybody know the wash-up of that incident about five years ago. I think it was a sheff w youth fighting in Barnsley after the match. The copper ran up behind him and absolutely smashed him on the head with a baton. It was an assault that could well have been tragic.
thanks for that... I just saw a reference to Orgreave in a post and that vid came into me head. It was tragic.
Edited as I realise friends or family of him may read and be hurt by my previous comments It's a shame that his victims will never get the justice they deserve. Also find it absolutely appalling that the 'expert' opinion was he had used reasonable force. The kid causing the trouble needed locking up in my opinion and setting an example of. But didn't exactly need someone running up to him and hitting him round the head full force with a baton.
Edited as I realise friends or family of him may read and be hurt by my previous comments I find it hard to sympathise with people who commit suicide to avoid justice and deprive their victims of closure.
That's an absolutely insane thing to say mate. Did you see the force that the copper hit him with? Would you be saying the same if it was your 16-yr old that had been brutally killed?
There is never an excuse for a police officer to smash somebody over the head with a baton, absolutely never. If he felt the situation needed force, and absolutely felt it needed use of a baton, there are plenty of other options, the legs, the shoulder, but the head? No.
I only ever ever saw 1 piece of dodgy, shaky phone footage of the incident. It did look a bit harsh but if he was inciting hooliganism in the middle of town, and the force say it was justified force, there must've been a need for it. I dunno, I'm not privy to all the info that happened that afternoon, but scroats like that is why football is still in the dark ages. Hooligans man...
No, sorry you're right. I deleted my comment when I realised that. I had it in my head that the lad had died, but I'm wrong on that. I think it was the copper that killed himself. My mistake. Just unnecessarily tragic all round.
Let’s hope you never make an error of judgement or perhaps even intentionally over do something that leads to a mental breakdown where you’re world implodes and you feel you have no other option - I believe the Cop was in his early 20’s - made a terrible error deliberate or not he shouldn’t have died as a result of it - we’re all human mistakes are made - let he who is without sin cast the first stone as they say
Edited as I realise friends or family of him may read and be hurt by my previous comments I struggle having sympathy for people who commit suicide to avoid being brought to justice. My sympathies are with the family of him, they are completely innocent and with his victims who will never get justice or closure. I feel it's only fair that I'm consistent with my views and I've always said that the same regarding people doing this to avoid justice.
Do you struggle to have sympathy generally with people suffering with their mental health? You could say any suicide is act of cowardice - the ultimate cop-out right? Also, do you think that this guy being hounded, doxed, threatened by people probably egged on by other idiots who want "justice" for some absolute cretin who thinks a good dust-up at the footy is what its all about might have contributed to his "cowardly" way-out?
