Another championship winners' medal followed the next season but he missed out on the 1957 Cup Final due to an eye injury. Mark was killed instantly on 6th February 1958 at Munich after 121 games and 1 goal for the club, leaving a young son and a pregnant wife, who gave birth to a daughter, 4 months after the disaster Mark got on the bench for an England international but didn't play unlike his team mate Tommy Taylor. He is buried in Wombwell Cemetery.
