Thread to yourself A little bit of rain showing at the moment for St Lucia on Saturday... https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/ddkxeztnu#?date=2024-06-15
I'll be in that there london. So will try stay up. concert sunday but doors not open while late evening 5 ish.
Seems a bit early to judge us as we’ve still only played less than 70 overs of cricket. I’m not massively confident but by the same token I don’t think we should be written off. That said if the weather holds and we do get through our super 8 group will also have India and the Windies. Big ask!
I liked the fact that Bairstow only faced 2 deliveries, but he hit them both for fours. And Buttler looked confident in the boundaries he kept hitting. However, they aren't great opposition in fairness, so maybe we can't really judge it.
USA through with India to the Super 8s to send Pakistan and Ireland home. Ridiculous that not one ball has been bowled so far in the two Florida games. Let's put matches in Florida in tropical storm season.
It's a shame that the weather can ruin Cricket like it does, but what can we do ehh. Maybe try to make it an 'indoor' sport in future ?. That is never going to happen though, and it's a ridiculous idea anyway. So we have to accept good or bad weather.
Surely at a competition such as this they could factor in reserve days. Like if it’s rained off today and it’s fine tomorrow then play tomorrow. England could get knocked out here because two games are affected by weather. That’s just not right.
has this weather been unusual for this time of year? teams shouldn't be getting knocked out of a World Cup because of rain.
Rainy season in the Caribbean. There's a reason you usually do tours there in January and February! No idea what they were thinking.
Rainy season in the Caribbean, tropical storm season in Florida. What could go wrong? The performance was poor v Australia but a side shouldn’t be going out on one result in this format. If England don’t progress due to weather - be it the game being washed out here or Australia v Scotland - England will be hugely unfortunate.
They wanted to promote the game in the USA, but there are not enough grounds, so they expanded to include the WI. Then they forgot to televise it, so no one knows, anyway.
