is sky lounge still owned by the same people who owned salt house? If so then it's pretty evident why the council wants them out isn't it?
Yeah but did he run up the debts first before it was took off him? Or was the debts nothing to do with him?
It’s TIG, who are in liquidation. I think Cucina are part of the same thing - probably part of the reason BMBC were keen to get shut. Think Crisp owns ‘The Works’ though which is across from the Glass Works.

We can't wait to meet you! ✨ A real shame for Cucina and their staff, I enjoyed going there a few times when I was up and it always seemed to be busy. That said, I'm excited to see a True North venue in the town centre.
To be fair, landlords usually know a lot more about this stuff than tenants, especially if it's a small business up against something like a council. There are plenty of clauses in our lease that I wish I didn't have, but seven years ago when I signed it I didn't know what they were going to be! Should have got a better solicitor etc, but that's something you can only fix the second time round, and plenty of businesses don't last that long.
So....If it is the same guy, Matthew Paul Crisp, Director of six recent companies according to Companies House. 1. True Independent Group Limited Liquidated owing £428,000 including trade creditors and HMRC 2. Cucina Club limited, dissolved in May 23 by companies house for not filing accounts/returns 3. True Independent Trading group Limited, voluntary liquidation in 2023 owing £60,000 described as HMRC - Pay (which is possibly employees PAYE/NI). 4. 3C UK Group Limited voluntary liquidation in 2023 owing £348,000 including trade creditors and HMRC 5. Bar-ista Global limited dissolved in 2023 by companies house for not filing accounts/returns 6. Flexiwork UK Limited still going but filing accounts that indicate dormant Historically six older companies between 2011 and 2015 all dissolved, 4 of them compulsorily by Companies House for not filing accounts/returns. Some may have mourned his passing from the Town Centre but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could chuck a grand piano. I doubt his creditors would either, saying nowt of him swerving the public purse. No lover of BMBC but they've got this one right
That was the White Heart. I used to do some DJ work there, but I'd stopped a long while before the fire. Was put down to arson I think. I only read about it after the fact, so don't know anymore.
Cucina had a fire, was closed for a while then opened up again for a couple of months then closed again. Taken over by Will Rogers who owns Vault, Old Crown, New Inn ( Old white Hart )and Bridge Inn and Speakeasy bar next to Vault. White Hart might have had a fire but nothing to do with Cucina.
This was all I could find on the subject. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/17993/pub-blaze-is-probed
So that’s two places in Penistone that have gone up in flames then been taken over by the same person.
