I once had a guard on LNER try to issue me a fine for sitting in a seat that I'd reserved... (I was in the right seat, on the right train, at the right time, but apparently the computer system that sold me it was wrong).
My daughter was fined with a ticket from Stockport to Manchester, because she mistakenly got on a train that had been delayed instead of the correct one. The delayed one set off at the time her train was departing. Absolute f’ckin Jobsworth. Honest mistake where she gained no advantage whatsoever.
She did. And failed. Unbelievable really. She wasn’t trying to dodge paying a she just made a mistake.
There's no point in engaging with him. He pops in, drops a Tory/Brexit bumlicking post, then dissappears when people try to question it. Happens all the time.
Was it possible to take that to the ombudsman? I think it's fair to claim that if they bothered to run on time, the mistake wouldn't have happened.
Like Tony, I was also going to suggest the Ombudsman. I managed to challenge a private parking fine through them after getting fobbed off by the company running the car park.
I think it's part of their "training" that they pick on unacompanied young women; both my daughters have been "targeted" when similar aged young men have been overlooked. As you say, AFJ's
