The deadline is midnight. Apparently, over 4 million 18-25 year olds aren't registered. Please make sure your family and friends are.

Yet they'll blame "boomers" for all their ills.

The four million figure is under 35s not 25 - but the youngest bands have the highest numbers not registered; partly due to fluctuating addresses as students. There is more apathy at that age - however there are large numbers of people unregistered in each age band - and plenty that won’t vote even being registered.

It isn’t just the youngsters. Though that said my lad is already pre registered and hasn’t turned 17 yet, they ask for anyone 16+ on the forms now, so I’ve potentially forced the issue for him as and when the time comes.

The establishment don’t want the young to vote anyway let’s face it - the elderly can have pretty much anything as photo id, but the kids can’t use student id or rail/bus passes.

The elderly can't.....my missus and I won't be voting, neither of us has a passport, photo driving license or bus pass...I have two forms of photo ID, neither of which are acceptable.

You can still register for a postal vote. I believe the deadline is tomorrow.

Thanks for that Scoff...tbh I feel like deliberately not voting as a protest against a bloody stupid and outrageous rule.

Plays onto the Tories hands that.
Apply for photo ID to vote (called a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’)
Use this service to apply for a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’. You can use it to vote in person in some elections and referendums in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). You cannot use it as proof of identification for any other reason.

You’ll need to apply by 5pm on 26 June 2024 to get a Voter Authority Certificate for the General Election on 4 July 2024.

If you go to gov.uk there's a link there
