Can't say anything bad about Starmer on here. He's playing a waiting game, has changed the party and will almost certainly be prime minister. So any bluster, lies, flip-flopping is all ok apparently.
I'm not expecting great things from Starmer but if he manages to undo some of the damage caused by Brexit and renationalises the railways it would be a good start.
If they are I'm sure they are certainly not members of an exclusive club. Including your good self of course!
Could be worse... you could have a choice of Biden or Trump. Unless there is an incredible shock and every poll is massively wrong or people just don't turn out, Starmer is going to be the next PM. And for whatever issues there are with our voting system... at least he'll have been directly elected which you can't say for the last 2! It comes down to a straight choice. You're either getting Sunak or you're getting Starmer. You never know, put aside the ideological need for purity and in 5 years, we might be in a position where a decent number of people may have a little more hope and be a bit better off than if they'd had 5 more years of the tories. It can't be any worse than 5 more years of whoever is pulling tory strings.
We're f cuked if Labour get in. More taxes, austerity and another European referendum is what I've taken from the election broadcasts, manifesto and debates. I've been wrong before though.
Given Labour have explicitly ruled out rejoining the EU, Customs Union or Single Market, I think that's an incorrect analysis. And the black hole in the tory budget is bigger than what Labour may face (though obviously the tories have the latest figures to base their policies on which aren't available to all parties). There are plenty of things that could be far better in the Labour manifesto, but I'd be careful of taking at face value anything the tories or their supportive press and media say about it.
Agree. Spot on. Just because you disagree with the Labour manifesto you're castigated as a Tory FFS. I'm a liberal. Only voted Tory last time because of their stance on the EU.
Do you have an alert set up to get notifications every time someone mentions anything to do with labour or essentially anything not from the far right so you can come out from your reform rock and bash them?
I dont like Starmer one bit mate but in context are we not fooked now because of the Tories? Theyve abolutely run the country into the ground. Dislike Labour all you want (I do at the moment) but I cant see them being anything but at least marginally better than the Tories. Nothing works, everything's broken. Its the Tories that have done it, not Labour.
Didn't Gordon Brown bail out the banks and build these cottage hospitals putting us in the 5hit? How far do you go back?
