Going off the Turkey/Georgia thread and general disdain for the style of modern football, what are the modern things that you absolutely hate? Probably hate most of them, but pick one.
Some difficult choices there. I’d add - Going down with “concussion” - Commentators using the phrase “draws the foul” instead of just “cheats”
Modern football things or just modern things? If it’s the latter then Spotify can beggar off, bring back having to find songs and putting together compilation tapes.
Agree with the above - 'won/draw' the foul. Despise it. It's cheating Edit: especially then when pundits call it 'clever'. It's not clever to go down extremely easily...
Winger not taking on the defender for me. I remember being at the Stadium of Styte in 2006, after winning the playoffs in Cardiff and screaming at Devaney to go forward with the ball and every time he stopped and played it infield or back to a defender. We lost 2-1 as I recall, but a result was there to be taken if we'd only attacked them more....
Alan Shearer throwing himself down at every opportunity (against us), to get free kicks and opponents booked. And the ref going along with it. And Chris Waddle saying on commentary, that he's impressively using all of his experience there in those situations!.
That reminds me mate - players getting away with assault and being aided & abetted by referees without repercussions. I.e Morgan & D'Urso!
And when pundits and colleagues etc, come up with the it was an accident, he didn't mean it, he's not that sort of player, type excuse. Well that makes it ok then doesn't it.
Outfield players with incredible touch passing the ball back to the keeper from the opposition half for him to then sky it with all the precision of a blindfold clown.
Not saying he didn't exaggerate the head injury, but surely it was a foul? two handed push to the chest?
It’s the first one. I feel like nothing gets said about it either! Players go down from pretty much no contact and it’s just a free kick with nobody questioning it! One option I would say is missed off here that I regularly get arsey about (probably because I sit West Stand Lower) is players blatantly stealing 10/15 yards on throw ins and the refs doing nothing. Until we try it, of course.
