Full of deluded comics on here. Point is plenty of publicity for a boxing match but not much on new signings for our football team, which this forum is supposedly for. With only a week to go to preseason i think we should have at least 2 or 3 players in so our new coaches can get to work
No but still a lot of publicity from BARNSLEY FOOTBALL CLUB about a boxing match at OAKWELL the said home of the FOOTBALL CLUB but not a lot of publicity or concern about the FOOTBALL TEAM
Do you want the club to list every single target and comment on every single rumour what fans make up? Yesterday our sporting director literally said we've identified targets and in negotiations/contact. I honestly just don't know what you expect bud? Should we not try sell tickets to an event (which will ultimately bring more money into the club)?
No but i expect a week before preseason to at least have signed a couple more players since our 4 so called top players were allowed to leave. My argument is the priority is surely football not boxing. The boxing will take care of itself
But according to people on here they are 2 different entities so does the boxing money go to the football club or some other "club" that has been set up. And no i don't expect them naming every rumour but i would have expected more signings by this time and then we are not panic signing yet again, i have had 70 plus years of this and we never altet
It's important for BFC that as many as possible of our new recruits are in place for the start of pre season. We should know by now if any of our in contract players will be allowed to leave and have a replacement to come in. If not our player must stay. Having a full pre season with his full squad is our best chance of a good start and successful season. After pre season starts if we need additional players or sales then wait until January as changes during this time is disruptive.
I can say with almost certainty that when pre season starts we won’t have all our signings in the building
There's nothing wrong with wanting players in. We all do surely. However, I suspect you don't know what's going on behind closed doors. Patience can be a virtue sometimes. I would say dont get frustrated with the lack of movement just now - there might be some really good players signing in the next few weeks. We can all judge when the season starts can't we? The point is we dont know what's happening so its pointless assuming good things or bad things and pointless criticising or praising. Its too early to judge.
Every season up to now proves you right. If we have a plan though a sensible approach would be to get all incoming players in ready to get in a full pre season together. With our new CEO, coach and Connor you it would be good to follow this approach even if it means we miss out on the undecideds further down the line. If our board would accept bids for any of our players up to transfer deadline day then bring replacements in now and work with them for as much time available up to the start of the new season. I think it's good business sense, playing sense and basic commonsense.
We have a box office to do that. maybe publicity will take up a very small part of the clubs top brass time. But the promoters will run the show. Many clubs hold other events. And I reckon more will be lined up in the future. It's a good source of revenue. I dont know what % the club get. But from what I've read. I'd be surprised if it wasn't 50% plus after expenses. Fighters in the main bout get very little from ticket sales. 10% typically.
So you think the club is prioritising boxing purely because the recent announcements relate to boxing? Do you think the club are only working on 1 thing at a time? (Especially given they are entirely different departments involved)
But do you think the commercial and marketing guys working on the boxing event have any impact on signing players? We need to have players in before the players come back on 1st July, ideally, or to get as much of the preseason as possible. It's not time to panic yet, though.
