    In a bar in Cologne and with a group of England fans talking to Slovenia fans. When I said I was a Barnsley fan first one said do you remember the a Slovenian player who played in English premier league. When I said yes Ales Krizan he was delighted.

    He is probably the only one from his country to have done so. £450,000 we wasted on him. Very poor recruitment that season with obvious exceptions - Barnard, Ward and Fjortoft successful while we chucked money down the drain on the likes of Tinkler and Hristov.

    I think he did yes but my point was that splashing so much on the three I mentioned was just poor recruitment, irrespective of how unlucky they were with injuries. Opportunity wasted because we might have survived at least one more season with a bit more luck all round, and less biased/incompetent refereeing

    When you think of the media/press sh*it stirring, and stitching a player up... Georgie got dogs abuse for allegedly saying negative things about the women in Barnsley. :eek:

    I thought Ales Križan was a decent player for us. We were torn apart by some top players that season, but I think he was a better defender than Scott Jones, he just didn’t score some important goals.
    I thought we looked decent with Križan, De Zeeuw, Moses.
