You didn't need VAR for that , ut was happening far less expensively before, think about our tine in the Prem.
And to make things worse, that's exactly what happened to the Danes in the last Euros as well... But yeah, I hate when penalty kicks are awarded for clearly accidental handballs at the edge of the box. I wish they'd change that rule somehow.
I genuinely believe refs tried to officiate the game the best they could. I'm not saying they didn't get it wrong sometimes (although not nearly as much as fans claimed) but they were honest. VAR is not honest, it has an agenda.
Great goal by Germany, genuinely wonderful, but are there more nerves if you're drawing 0-0 or 1-0 down rather than winning 1-0?
The Danish no 9 Hojland is having another really bad game. Where's Brian or Michael Laudrup when you need them!.
Am I the only one who thinks that the handball decision wasn't that scandalous? I mean, it's stupid that these get awarded like I said before, but you see that kind of penalty decisions all the time. It's not the first time in this tournament and probably won't be the last.
It's much easier now when you put it to committee. You don't need a committee to make a snap decision. It's much easier to corrupt an organisation than an individual who survives on their integrity. There's no integrity when your individuality is not exposed.
Wasn't there a rule for penalties that ya couldn't stop in ya run up..German stopped dead before shot.
To be fair, I don't even know what the handball rule currently is, and I don't even pretend that I'm any kind of an expert when it comes to football. However, I believe that the rule still says that you can't "make yourself bigger" with your hand which is why defenders tend to keep their hands behind their back in such situations.
I don't either. I go back to what I knew when I played football - deliberate handball - I believe that's still in the laws of the game. The ball hit him, he didn't move his hand to the ball. And crucially, it made no difference to where the ball ended up. It's just nonsense because if it had happened the other way it wouldn't have been given. The whole point of VAR is not to make it fair, it's to ensure that the teams the governing bodies want to progress, do. That's the only reason it was brought in.
According to the letter of the law it was correct. But that doesn't make it any less obscene. Using a "snickometer" designed for cricket to adjudicate on marginal handball decisions has nothing to do with what football should be about.
Once again, you really can't and shouldn't write off the Germans. But I agree with Albert McCoist though, I don't think they do look like a clear favourite, but having that home advantage will count for a lot.
